LONG Time Away...Reintroducing myself

As you may or may not see by my post history, I was at one time very active here. That was almost 7 years ago now. From about 2006-2009 I had three dragons and fell in love with the reptile and hobby. When I lived in New Mexico it was an easy hobby to maintain. When taking a job in the Washington D.C. area, we very much had to downsize. I had to get rid of my fishtanks, my snakes and unfortunately my bearded dragon. Strangely enough, at the time it wasn't TOO difficult because the beardie I had was unusually mean and aggressive.

In any case, I still love them...still stare at the little babies every time I am in Petsmart, etc. My wife has been reorganizing a section in our home office to make room for "another desk" for our son to start homeschooling. Last night she dropped a bomb on me and said..."This is the spot you can put your enclosure"... "what enclosure"?

"Your new bearded dragon enclosure"

AHHHHH!!!! I freaked out a little bit. She has been struggling with what to get me for Christmas and decided that this would be the perfect gift...and in December I can pick out my beardie.

Sorry for the long story, I am just so happy to be back , when I was new to the hobby I learned so much here about how to perfectly care for my dragon. Looking forward to building a big new enclosure for him/her, but starting off with a 20L. The one really big advantage to living in an area like D.C. is the availability of good produce. When I was in New Mexico I could never find a good variety of tasty greens like bok choy or chard.

Thanks for that link, those are a great deal at $40.

I think those EXO-Terras are a great deal and they look nice. I will want something a bit bigger than 36x18x18 when the beardie is full grown, but that's a nice starter tank.

Yep...I used to have a smaller one for a leopard gecko. Pretty sure that's the way I'm going to go. I do like and will probably use an MVB bulb, so i'll just need to get a nice fixture for that.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
