Hi Everyone,

George (18 months old or so, 18.5 inches long, 522 grams) has been brumating for almost 4 months!

Anyone have a similar experience? He's bathed weekly and has consistently lost about a gram of weight per week. He woke up on his own about a week ago, ate some reptiworms and a bit of mango and promptly went back to sleep in his hide. He hasn't pooped for months (right before brumation).

He seems OK, but I'm getting worried. His legs look plump, his tail, while diminished, is still relatively fat. His eyes are bright when I wake him up.

Should I take away his hide? Any advice? Just seems like a long time to brumate.

It's not uncommon to see a bearded dragon brumate from November to late February, which is a common time for brumation.

George should be getting ready to stop brumating, though. So be aware ;)

My guy started in November and in mid February started coming out to bask now and then. As the weeks
continued he began basking more and more and slowly starting getting an appetite. He is still not 100% there yet. My main focus is just encouraging him to stay hydrated. Dripping water on his nose sometimes works. I've also found he has a sudden obsession with berries of any kind. The brat makes me hand feed them! I let him eat them quite liberally now since its a good source of water.

Like us they are all individuals so YMMV. With careful observation. A little bit of going mad, and some patience you will figure out what works for the both of you.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
