I know, right?? It is the same for me; I became a lizard mom quite by accident, when my teen aged nephew who lived with us fell in love with a little baby Dragon in a pet store. I had experience working in a pet shop, so I knew reptiles are not the super easy to keep pets some people think...and that Beardies, in particular, are not a pet for beginners...but I also knew that I had enough experience with exotics to keep one alive. So, we bought the whole set up: lights, vitamins, everything. I had not planned to own a Beardie but when my nephew lost interest after just a few feedings, well, no animal will go unfed or uncared for in my house! So, I became Dezi's full time caretaker, and he naturally completely bonded to me. And What a delight! I never dreamed they could be so affectionate, or so smart and communicative! Or so funny!! Dezi stays with me, and is never far away. We do everything together, even eat yoghurt (he loves the blueberries!) together. He is the most remarkable creature I have ever known! We are so lucky, to be owned by Beardies!
