I was watching the news whilst I was making my lunch today and my jaw dropped.
"FIRE RAVAGES REPTILE HAVEN"
Im not far away so I got in my car immediately and drove round to the rescue centre, which I was due to take Miso to later that day.
Bloody news had blown it completely out of proportion.
I was expecting to see a blackend shell.
Thank god the rescue centre had fireproof walls and ceilings.
The fire was contained to one of the four storage rooms upstairs.
Even so 10 rescued snakes and 3 iguanas lost their lives.
If the walls weren't fireproof every single tiny soul in their would have died.
The fire was from a circuit shorting. The circuits were only 2 months old and proffessionally fitted so the centre is intending to sue the bejesus out of the electrical company.
The centre is completely without power at the moment, with all the reptiles huddled in the lower shop with nothing but portable heaters keeping them warm.
The electricians are working on getting the power back on now, but if they cannot get the electrics on by this evening I have offered to take 5 or 6 reptiles home to keep warm.
Ive left them my number so Im just waiting to hear if I need to start making some temporary homes.
I could be in for one busy night.
What a horrid horrid situation.
