LIVE Phoenix Worms in poo?!!!

Hey all...

So this is just absolutely odd. I've heard of undigested phoenix worms showing up in our little beardies' poo, and witnessed that today. There was one wrapped up in his poop which made sense since he decided to scarf them down at an ungodly pace.

But what freaked me out was finding LIVE WORMS CRAWLING AROUND IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA. Is that normal?!! Did he maybe puke them up? I was out and came home to find that... and there have been no worms in his viv! He eats them out of his viv in a separate tank!

I'm officially freaked out! :shock:

I was having the same scenario recently & got to witness my beardie eating the live freshly pooped out worms.... I was getting paper towels to clean his poop up when he spotted his favorite feeder. Anyway .....

It was suggested by a member on here to feed pw first meal of the day. Maybe my beardie needed more time under his lights for proper digestion. So I did that (he was getting them for his last meal) & I started limiting the amount of pw he got at once. I cut him back to 35 & waited to check the next days poop. No live or undigested pw so I upped him to 40, then I ran out but still no live. I did see 1 undigested at 40.

Just some ideas. By the way, my beardie DID throw up after eating PW the first time. Again I don't think I cleaned them good enough & he had inhaled them.

I've heard of pacman frogs pooping up undigested Phoenix worms so its no surprise beardies may do it too. This is one of the many reasons I'm not a fan of them, and stick with crickets and roaches as live feeders. :?
