Well the other day for the first time Lily got scared. She has the run of the house so I was looking for her because after she runs around and plays she finds a spot and falls asleep. Anyways I was looking for her and my husband actually was the one that found her she was underneath a blanket in my spare room he lifted it up and she was puffed out and freak out her mouth was open her beard was swollen we had never seen her like that it was the neatest thing I think I've ever seen her do. But my husband got scared because when he went to touch her she was doing circles and freaking out it was scary but it was also really need to see that. She became two sizes bigger than what she really is it was amazing. The only thing that kind of makes me worry was I don't know why she did this something must have scared her. Has this happened to any of you?

She was probably startled because she'd found a nice place to hide and got all settled down and then someone disturbed her. If they crawl under something and settle down like that, it's probably best to move as slowly as possible if you have to pick them up and put them somewhere else.

Kozmo has done that once or twice. And it's because she's been startled. She roaming freely and finds herself in a spot that is not easy for me to get to and I have to come at her from above and she doesn't like it at all. She was also shedding. She has puffed up and bobbed her head at me and even has run at me mouth wide open! A little shushing and tlc calms her down.

Yep a gentle wake up procedure is the best way :
...., say hello and give beardie a few gently pats to wake it up before completely removing the stuff that is covering it and then when it's awake and recognizes you , pick it up.

Thanks, King, for posting the perfect beardie wakeup procedure. Should print this one off and stick it to the terrarium. :D

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
