Right now, I have a 20 gal. Tank for a baby beardie. I bought an "All Living Things" 18", it says 15 watts, 50 UVB bulb. Do you think that is too much light? (One day, I will move to a 40 gal tank.) I plan on putting the light inside the tank so the screen doesn't interfere with the light.
Those are the same as the Zilla Desert 50 bulbs which are fine for a 20g tank. I would put it on top of the tank over the basking area and build the basking area up within 6-8'' of it for best results. Keep in mind that if the fixture came with a clear plastic shield over the bulb it should be removed prior to use.
Once you switch to a bigger tank I'd either mount it inside the tank 6-8'' above the basking area or upgrade to a higher output T5 light which has an optimal output at around 12-14'' so they are a good choice for larger enclosures.
I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
