Lighting worries!!

I use a 5.0 repti glo tube and most people on here bash this product so can someone please give me some more insight on this product!!! I also worry because my light fixtures ballist is humming can this be fixed by a fuse? Last but not least can this humming be harmful to my baby? She is 3 months old and is in great condition I just dont want to hinder her good start in anyway!

eye problems, then thy turn lathargic. The only safe tube ligthing is reptisun 10.0

Mercury Vapor Bulbs can also be used. They are 2 in 1.. has UVB as well as heat.

I'll take your advice and switch my tube. It's just hard to believe that zoomed can have the only good tube on the market!

The 5.0 isn't a dangerous bulb. It is a VERY weak bulb, but not directly dangerous like the 10.0. With ANY fluorescent tube style UVB, be sure to change it out every 6 months.

Yeah I read about this weakness in the repti glo tubes. I believe I have plenty of elevation close to the light in order to make up for this weakness. If thats capable of helping? I've also read that the 10.0s can be too strong on the beardos so Im still up in the air here!! More input please :mrgreen:

Well the weakness, at least in my opinion, really is universal to fluorescent tube style uvb bulbs. Whether it's a reptisun, reptiglo, etc...doesn't really matter since no tube, that I know of, can match the strength or quality of a good MVB like the trex or megaray. The reptisun 10.0 is not too strong by any stretch of the imagination. It is a decent bulb that is quite safe and proven by many people.

The problem with the reptiglo 10.0 tube is that it emits LESS UVA than bulbs like the Reptiglo 8 & the Reptisun 5 & 10. It also emits a low wavelength frequency of UVB, which is very close to UVC. This doesn't allow proper synthesis of D3.
