Lighting questions! Please help!

So i have a 60 gallon tank (no beardie yet) the measurements are 48" x 13" x 25" do i use a t5 or t8 linear bulb? And how long should the bulb be for my size terrarium? I know a repti-sun 10.0 for sure but a little confused on this :/

Go t5, it will be cheaper in the long run and you won't have to have a super tall basking spot. I would get either a 36" or 24" tube.

A T5 10.0 or 12% light is high output. Some are labeled as HO and some aren't. Are you seeing options between brands or models? I can help you choose if you can provide links to what you're looking at.

I would like to try reptisun because ive heard they were pretty good, do i purchase the fixture by them? And can i put it ontop of the screen if i cut a hole around the fixture?

Both the ReptiSun and Arcadia brands are top of the line in my opinion. I've used both and currently have the Arcadia I linked to earlier (it is a combo that comes with light and fixture). The T5 is powerful enough so it can shine right through a screen top. Through a screen they have an optimal output about 10'' below the bulb and about 12'' without a screen. You can use most T5 grow light fixtures for them. It doesn't need to be mounted inside the tank. If it's shining through a screen top that will intercept some of the UVB output but not enough to cause a problem (it will still be stronger than a T8 inside the tank). Set it about 10-12'' above the basking area (through a screen top) or about 12-14'' without a screen top and it should work nicely.
