Moving Oz to a 55 gallon tank. Of course taller than what he has. Should I clip the basking lamp inside the tank? Or still keep it on the top of the tank. Building up the tank will be done over time. Right now he likes to bask to the heat rock(which has the cord cut), so that is pretty low from the top of this new tank.

You could put the rock on something to position it higher in the tank. Like build up a small area under the light where he could climb higher and closer to the light.

We do plan on building up, but will take some time. With a single income, things move slow.
