Lighting distance

First off, I have a reptisun HO 10.0 UVB lamp and a 150 watt basking bulb sitting on the tank lid. Not only is it a pain in the a$$ to take the temp (because I have to move everything off the lid to get within the recommend distance to take the temp) but the temp in the basking spot was about 130F. I've since broken the basking bulb (don't ask how, lets just say it was spectacular!)
Going forward should I get a lower wattage, a lamp stand, a rehostat? whats the best option here?
Next, Can I mount the UVB light fixture on the shelf that is above the tank? The distance from UVB fixture to the basking spot varies 14"-16". Its about 23" to the floor of the tank everywhere else. Keep in mind I don't have my dragon yet, I want to get the lighting and heat optimal first.

I'd get an adjustable lamp stand and raise the basking light up until you get the right temps. You can definitely suspend the UVB light from the shelf above using wire or thin chain perhaps. Adjust it until it sits about 12-14'' above the top of the basking rock and you should be in good shape. Suspending the lights will also make it much easier to take the top off and access the tank.

do you have a suggestion on how to hang that fixture? Its lacking places to attach hooks or chains

I would drill eye hooks into it and hang it from those or maybe use command hooks that can handle the weight of the fixture and bulb. I'm not the most handy person around though so others may have some better ideas.
