Lighting Costs

Can anyone break down the costs per month of running different wattage lights?

Just state the brand name, UVA/UVB/or BOTH, the number of hours you leave it on for your beardie per day, the wattage and how much it costs you per month. I would appreciate anyones input, thank you

Spot Heat Lamp
150 watt spot light/1000= .15 kW
.15kW X 12 hours a day = 1.80kWh
19cets per kWh in Boston X 1.80kWh = $0.34/day

UVB Tube Bulb
14 watt UVB Florescent/1000= .014kW
.014kW X 12 hours a day = .12kWh
$0.19 X .12kWh = $0.02/day

Black Light heat bulb
75 watt Black Light/1000= .075kW
.075kW X 24 hours a day = 1.8kWh
$.019X1.8kWh=$0.34

$0.34heat+$0.02Florescent+$0.34Black= $0.70/day
$0.70/dayX31 days=roughly $21.70/month

Gotta love Boston electricity prices

If you're having trouble doing the math let me know and I can write a quick java program that does it for you.

I don't want to even start to calculate the total cost of keeping a BD annually with everything included. I'd much prefer remaining oblivious to the dent she's putting in my bank account.

It would be the same as my 150watt heat lamp. Doesn't use more energy because it's an MVB. Just a different way of using that energy.

Yikes.. I don't know how to do that math (I suppose I could figure it out, but my brain hurts when I think that hard after work).. but I do know that I live in a super energy-efficient apartment, but I have a monitor tank, a beardie tank, a snake cage, and two aquariums (all equipped with proper heating, lighting, filters, air, etc, etc...). My two bedroom apartment (with dishwasher & washer & dryer, btw) only runs me about $110 with the temps staying at 72 constantly...
I would love to move into a house, but I'm afraid of electric bills! I think, now, that my 'pet electricity' is about $50 monthly, but I'm sure my rates are incredibly low; I live in the land of the cheapest gasoline too.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
