Light times

I was wondering how long the lights in the viv should stay on for, mine are on from 7am till 8pm, is that too long for a 2 year beardy. How long should they stay and for and go off for? Also my beardy has been sleeping a lot lately and hiding away, is this the cause of it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mine are on the same amount of time for my adults, but its from 8am to 9pm.

I do 8 to 9 in the summer, that's going to switch to 7 to 8 probably just because of work schedule.

We use The Weather Channel sun rise / sun set.
In the spring slowly make their days longer, in the fall reduce their day light.
That way they burmate, You should not mess with 2,000,000,000 years of evelution. :mrgreen:

Eh, mine all have hides, if they wanna brumate they can find a hide to brumate in (and believe me, Lilly has already found her hide for the year).

im with you, Brandon... well, I wouldnt mind if Phoebe brumated but she has never brumated before.... Im fighting a losing battle with Kazi and Huff tho - the 2 that I really do not want to go into any form of brumation...

I understand, but Lilly's version of brumation is different from any other beardies. She thinks brumation means we curl up in a log or a box and sleep until it's dinner time, get up, eat, bask, snuggle and repeat.
