Light at night? How dark is dark enough?

I have my boy in our kitchen area right now, but I also have a very elderly pupper I like to leave a light on for. It's not bright but it's bright enough. I've been covering his tank with a towel to help cut down the light pollution... but how much light is too much at night? I don't want to mess up his cycle...

Something like a habba hut will allow the beardie to be in a dark spot. My two will use their huts to put themselves to sleep if the living room light is on.

Covering their tank doesn't hurt, so you can continue doing that, but if he has a good hide he can go in, and he goes into it, then you probably don't need to cover it.
