Lid Issues Exoterra 36x18x18

First time posting so bare with me, I am looking to buy a beardie at an upcoming expo in L.A. so I am trying to get everything set up and ready before I bring it home. I was going to make a Terrarium with all the guides on here, but I got a steal on an Exoterra (36x18x18) for 120 from a local pet shop. My only real issue is the tank has a screen top and I have read that the screen will block the uvb. I have read different things about it and just trying to get feel if i should find a way to affix it inside or on top of the screen will be ok. Any ideas or feedback would be much appreciated!
Also if I close off the top would the front strip be suffucient ventilation?

Most ppl wil tell you it is better mounted INSIDE so that there is nothing between the beardie and UVB rays. BUT the ReptisSUN 10.0 Fluorescent lights do decent on top of screen lids if you MUST go that route. My beardie had one over his screen lid and he would still sit uphigh to soak inthe rays

also make sure NO SAND. tile, slate, non stick linoleum, even paper towels or newspaper are better than sand.

LOL its funny that you say that because no matter how many posts you read on here about "DO not use sand" people still use it. I'm making my own desert landscape out of foam and tile (no sand included ) kinda like the one on lizardlandscapes.com. But thanks for the heads up.
