licks basking log after being held

my 11 month old bearded dragon is pretty comfortable with being held. i hold him for about a half hour-45 mins. daily. he gets baths 2 or 3 times a week, 15 mins at a time. every time after holding him, when i put him back into his tank and onto his basking log he sticks out his tongue and touches it with the log. not a full on lick, just a "tongue tap". anyone else have this happen to them or no why he does it? :roll:

Licking is their way of telling what things are. If you watch them they will walk around licking everything.

This is just their way of testing something out - Just like a sense to see if it's safe or not! Gandhi does it before he moves anywhere!

hmm, sounds interesting. i just dont get why its done EVERY TIME i put him back in his tank. i always put him back in the same spot too.

Dewey does this exact same thing. He also does it every time I put him in his cage. I always put him on the sale basking log, but that doesn't stop him from licking it yet again. As mentioned he also licks stuff around the room while he's out and about. I think it's adorable. Such silly little beardies... :lol:
