Licking things?

My baby keeps licking everything. It's pretty quick, just sort of, taps things with his tongue. I've seen him do it to the logs he basks on, and even a cricket once (he wasn't trying to eat it from what I could see... Just wanted to touch it with his tongue???)
Is this normal? Am I missing something? Is something wrong with him?

It's completely fine, they 'smell' with their tongue. He's just exploring.

Diesel does it all the time, it just means their curious about the object or kind of like marking something of their own.

Yep, that's just curiosity. They explore by tasting things. That's a good reason to keep small bits cleaned up off of floors when they are out and about and a good reason to use a solid substrate or one that isn't as likely to harbor harmful bacteria.
