LG ~ The Handi-Capable Bearded Dragon

Thank you all for your well-wishes; LG has been fattening up lately(not really on purpose) due to all the extra food that's been available.

With part of that money from the plushie donations(thanks again so much), I've been buying her fresh greens and veggies every few days(something I couldn't always afford). Been eyeing tank accessories but I don't want to go overboard on something that is basically just decor.

Still want to take her to Dr. Greek near my house, or if I can find someone better/closer...

Update on LG's caretaker(Me);

I've been going through a lot of health issues due to seizures, but also some pretty heavy depression. The last time I saw my doctor, he decided that my depression was affecting me more seriously than the seizures. So instead of changing around my seizure meds again, the prescribed an antidepressant that I haven't tried before.

It's way to early to tell really, but I feel like I have a little more energy and will to get up and move around. Hoping this new depression med helps me climb out of the pit I've been stuck in for the last couple years...

Have some pics of LG on another computer, will try to summon some of the newfound energy and get them uploaded to Photobucket, then to here.

Jason, I apologize. I took a bit of a hiatus from this site and indeed the dragon community as a whole lately. I lost my Starkiller recently and that broke my heart, but know that you and LG were always in my thoughts and prayers.

A thought occurs to me though(based on some unfortunate recent events in my life); are you doing your OWN research on the meds they are prescribing you? I ask because last month my doctor of nearing a decade dropped the ball. And in a BIG way. If I hadn't looked up a medication he prescribed me for GAD and insomnia I would not be here to write this post. Seriously. The drug would have KILLED ME DEAD. He was having an off day, but the fact remains. Make sure you look out for yourself, too, hon.

I've battled depression as well, and someone once gave me a Winston Churchill quote that I often repeat to myself: "If you're going through hell, keep going." I know how hard it is to try out all the different meds, but once you find the one that works for you, it's like the sun comes out from behind the clouds and the birds start singing again. Until then, let LG keep you in line - Jasper literally saved my life when I was going through hell. It's amazing what these little scaly monsters can do for us.

I agree with you, Sandi. We have been telling people that Goldie is a service animal, she helped him remember the way to go when we were in the boonies riding our quad and he couldn't remember which way we came, Goldie did. He had been working with her and she got to where she loved to learn. Also they are great comforters, I would think that really applies to people like Jason and you when you have to battle depression especially. Miss O (one of our first two introductions to the joys of beardies as animal family members. People always wonder how beardies can be service animals and we tell them, they are really surprised.

Good luck to you, Jason. Keep taking care of lg, she will be there for you the whole time, because you took care of her when she needed it. They are very smart and remember how you take good care of them and remember them.

I sincerely apologize for my 'off and on' posting these last months....

Everybody's thoughts and prayers are much appreciated and do help me through the dark times. I have been researching the meds I'm on, and while they want to add additional ones; I feel uncomfortable trying anything with such horrible side-effects...

Sheri, I want to thank you so much for all you've done to help LG. The little doll is just precious and everyone who sees it wants to hear where it came from.

Everyone here is just so positive and filled with well-wishes, it does my heart good to come on this site; Even if only "off and on" at times...

Don't want to bring down this thread by constantly talking about my seizures and the likes, so I'll just say that I'm doing fine; No long term or serious boo-boos right now.

Internet keeps getting turned off by our provider. We're good now though(obviously or I wouldn't be typing this :roll: )...

LG is still chugging along. She's pretty lazy compared to most dragons, but when I open the door to our back yard, she becomes very alert and wants nothing more than to go outside.

Been feeding her the Supers, Waxies and Mealies that were so kindly donated and mailed to us(thanks again :wink: )

Besides the bugs, she gets some of the dry pellets(with water added to soften them), collards, mustard and dandelion greens(big, human-grade dandelion greens can be found in some markets, but their few and far between it seems).

Still got plenty of that Rep Cal calcium with D3, as well as the Rep Cal Multivite(which she never likes )

Really apologize about pictures... I always say I'm gonna post them and then I go to do it and it just feels like a vertical climb for some reason. Again, don't wanna ruin this thread, but the agonizing despair I've been feeling just plain sucks the life out of me... Sometimes I get these little bursts of usable energy(like right now, where I'm spell-checking and actually spending time doing something constructive). For the most part though, the smallest tasks seem to rise up in front of me like some anxiety-riddled mountain; Capable of crushing my will and any aspirations I may have once had.

Well enough of that. I've been bummed all day and I need to just snap out of it.

After I post this, I will check out which pics I've already posted most recently, then I'll see what I got for ya's on the new-LG-pic front... Wish me luck. :silent:
