I am about to go to work right now, but I just checked on LG and she is sleeping in her hide since I fed her earlier.

I'm waiting patiently for the summer days where the sun stays out past 4:30, and LG stays out too.

P.S. I'm going to take a couple of those sweets to work with me to pass the time a bit... :mrgreen:

I've felt better.

A lot of bad vibes at home; I can't get any peace or quiet here(even in my own room), so I've been having to go hiking the last few nights to get away from the insults and negativity(insert drunk mom here)...

Ha... No wonder I've have bronchitis since new years...

I'm pretty tired and irritable right now, but I wanted to mention I rescued a water turtle(a male R.E.S.). I took some pictures of the turtle, as well as LG on my regular camera; Now I just have to get on a working 64-bit system so I can upload them to photobucket.

LG is doing great, she is fat and happy. The turtle, I'm not sure. I think he may have an infection so I'm just trying to keep everything optimal for him; basking lamp and LG's old reptisun10.0(until I can afford a new one), dark cool place, and the biggest water container I could fit(still needs to be much bigger)...

I don't know if I'm going to be able to keep the turtle... Instead of looking for the best home for it(proper setup), my mom has been trying to unload it on anyone willing to put it in their fish tank or pond... I've tried explaining the problem of putting them outdoors during the winter(or the summer for that matter), and that they'd only escape to find a warmer, bigger place.

If I can get a better setup for him, I have no problem taking proper care of him. I just need to find an actual tank that will fit him(right now he's in a big, old dresser drawer with a screen on top); He's fine for now, but I can't imagine this being anything but temporary...

When I upload the pics you will see it's a good home, just on the thrifty side... Much better than the cardboard box those kids had him in anyhow!

I just started reading your thread! I am so amazed by all you have done for LG!!!! great work! As for your seizures, what meds do they have you on? I know I have been on Trileptal for years because it is the only thing that helps mine. We have played around and around with different meds but only ending up back on the trileptal because I am allergic or have horrible side affects from it (once landing me in the hospital for a week due to horrible side affects!). My migraines are one of my triggers also. I take melatonin for sleep as medicines like this tend to give you insomnia (insane considering lack of sleep can lead to more seizures!). Also, maybe asking the Dr about an antidepressant could help, even with your home life the way that it is (so sorry about this). Just remember all the good things you are doing everyday! Look at LG for inspiration! It will improve!!!!

It took me about 2 days but I just finished reading your entire thread. There were times where I almost responded but I quickly remembered that what I was read was in 2010 lol. Haha I am a big nerd just so you know. And also a huge clutz, I think i need to be wraped in bubble wrap somedays. I bet we would get a discount if we buy in bulk. :lol:
Somedays-weeks-months life does suck. Having been there and still in the middle of crap; I have realized when a lot of bad things happen something good has to happen. When I felt defeated that's what kept me going. I always think something HAS to happen!! Geeze! You seem like a wonderful strong person and so great for standing up and taking care of LG she is so lucky to have you.

I have also have trouble with anxiety and depression. My doctor also talked to me about ADD. I hate taking traditional drugs. Probably weird because I am in healt care and around "traditional" drugs all day. Buy I always look for a holistic way first. I have some really good suggestion for your depression and sleep issues. Some are herbs that you can buy at walmart so it's really cheap. I use them personally and recommends them to friends. I have tons of holistic health books; not sure if there is any information on seizures but I will look for you. PM me. Or I will send you my suggestions.
We are moving to LA county from Illinois on the 18th and if you ever need a ride anywhere get a hold of me. <~~~~ that's probably weird since its my first post but I am here to help just so you know.

I hope you guys know your wonderful people. If there were more people like you In the world this place would be so much better and easier for more people.

Whoa, thank you to everyone who has posted recently. I apologize for not replying sooner...

LG has had a hard life, but at the same time, she was fortunate enough to have a shot at continuing on.

I guess we've been here for a couple years now, so more than a few people have read LG's story here. Lately, I've been on here less and less because of health issues. Though not immediately life threatening, my seizures have really put a dent in my quality of life... Not that I used to have an unusually cushy one, I just miss being average and feeling at ease.

Taking topirimate for the seizures. Just had an MRI which showed no abnormalities. I also recently had an EEG, the results of which I am still waiting for.

LG seems to be happy. She had some chopped collard greens yesterday as well as a big serving of those butterworms. We went outside and she wandered around a bit, just exploring and getting some exercise...

I've really been meaning to fix up some kind of little wheelchair, only more like a mechanic's dolly(the ones where they lay on their back under the car). She wouldn't be strapped in, but I was thinking of forming the contours of the dolly to her underbelly and limbs; That way she would fit comfortably and not slide out when she starts to roll forward.

I understand that must sound crazy; Wanting to build a lizard wheel chair... I still think it could work, if only on hard floors and cement...

Hi Jason! i haven't been on here in a long time, but i got caught up on everything that's been going on. i've been through a lot of dark times too in the last year or so, & i can empathize with what you're going through. i agree that the Melatonin can help with sleep, as well as taking a Calcium/Magnesium combo supplement before bed (saw that one on Dr. Oz the other day). another thing that might help is St. John's Wort; it's a natural antidepressant that has helped me in the past, but check with the pharmacist if it's OK to take with your current meds. but be sure to avoid grapefruit in any form, as it can accelerate the effects of any kind of antidepressant med/supplement in a bad way. i love ruby-red grapefruit juice, but had to give it up due to my antidepressant meds; but now that it's been about 1.5 yrs of taking them, i can't imagine ever not having them! another thing, meditation can do wonders for how you feel & think. it really helped me with my attitude, my health, & my sanity. if you (or anyone else) wants any tips on how to meditate, please send me a message & i'll help out as much as i can...

i'm glad to hear LG is doing good, she's such a sweet & beautiful girl! if there is another care package going on in the future, i definitely want in on it! but really, if you need anything please don't hesitate to let me know. i may not be able to do a huge amount, but i'll do what i can. gotta pay things foreward, & it's always a good Karma thing, right?! :mrgreen:
and the idea of the lizard-chair? i love it! a few years back a had a baby beardie that couldn't use his front legs, they were paralyzed. i was going to construct him a little cart so it would be easier for him to scoot around, but never got to make it. he passed due to complications with his spinal cord, the vets did all they could do; i was devastated to lose him... if you'd like, i can go through my papers & computer to see if i can find the details i had worked on before. it might help you out? just let me know!

well i guess that's enough for now. i hope you, LG, & your rescued turtle all do well, especially in physical improvement & healing! and just take one day at a time on the mental stuff, you WILL make it, & will come out a stronger person in the long run. i think that it was Nietzsche that said - "that which does not kill us makes us stronger". when i look back on my life, no truer words were said.

Thankyou everyone for your thoughts.

I have been having issues with my seizure meds... Another BD.org user suggested some holistic choices, I might try one or two.

I just got the computer back yesterday; For the past 2 weeks both computers have been busted, but now the newer one works so I can post pictures again!

Sorry to post and run, but I literally need to leave for work now if I'm gonna be on time.

Here's a recent pic of LG(taken on a cheap cell phone, believe it or not); I will post alot more later!
