Letting them out to play

Zaxxi is 2-3 months and is starting to want to come out to play. When she's sleepy, I can bring her out and she will just cuddle with me.

But when she's active? Oh man... She just wants to run! DH and I were able to kind of pen her in on the couch for a bit this evening. But again, she ran between us wanting to find a hole in our defenses to take off and explore.

The problem is that I can't imagine making a space baby proof... So many nooks and crannies. So many things to go under and behind.

How do you do it? What sorts of things do you watch out for. She wants to run and I want to make her happy. :)

With Nero and both of my Leo's I let them roam and just keep an eye on them. If they are heading towards something I don't want them under, like my dresser that I refuse to move (and probably can't on my own  ), I make sure to steer them in another direction. Nero is still smaller in body size than my Leo's, and WAY faster, so he's more of the challenge. But he likes to explore, and since I've been letting him roam he is less likely to run from me when I go to pick him up so it hasn't been hard to keep him out of trouble.

If you had a room that was a little "safer", like the bathroom maybe, you could let her run around in there where there is less space and places for her to possibly hide in. :D

Bathrooms here are a no go sadly. When I went through my small mammals phase, I lived in an apartment with a great bathroom for letting my degus and hamsters run around. (Not at the same time...) I spent alot of time sitting on the floor reading books in there. The one here that's big enough has access to the heating vent under the cupboard in a way that is not securable. I'd rather my baby didn't make her way into the heating system.

I am looking forward to her being big enough for a harness to work. But I think she's still too tiny.

I might try just letting her down in the hall and seeing what she does. But I'll have to be on my toes so that she doesn't go somewhere she shouldn't.

I had a brain wave yesterday and realized the safest room in the house is the kids playroom in the basement. So down we went. DH sat in the door way being the gate keeper, I sorted lego and Zaxxi ran around like a maniac.

She seemed to have a great time. After maybe 20 minutes she ran under a stuffed animal on the floor and stopped moving. I lifted the stuffie up and she was fast asleep. It was the cutest thing ever. It's like she crashed. I carried her upstairs and put her to bed.

Nero has yet to crash while out, he seems to be non-stop.

After he's been out for awhile I pick him up to put him back and he will cling to me and try to run up my arm to stay out. He's discovered the Leo's and seems fascinated by them.

I went on Amazon and got a puppy playpen for my dragons. Its big enough thy can run around, have stuff to climb and play on. Its mesh with a zippered mesh top. I can take it outsid and let them be out without worry. They love the playpen.

I have a corner of the landing with beardie furniture that I swap out intermittently. I let her play on landing and watch her. She always ends up in that corner but it is all good because it is all beardie habitat stuff anyway.

I do actually let her roam the bathroom while I shower. LOL

I am on it ASAP. What an awesome thing!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
