All the black beards are great on this thread. Jason, are Trouble and Maize in different tanks now? Trouble's got the beginnings of a great black beard. Lonzo, who's pic is further back in this thread, has a great black beard when he gets a glimpse of our female Sweetie. His beard gets really black and that runs down into his chest and he starts bobbing anything in sight. It's quite a display. Sweetie loves it, she arm waves and black beard herself. I wish sometimes we could breed them, but we have no way to take care of babies.

Well done everyone, we need more black beards on this thread!!!

I wish I had a black beard to show you. However, mine never seem to get black beards. Redrock did once (other than when she got hurt in September) This was more than one year ago. We had her basking spot in the bedroom window. Since it's not always warm enough to open the window, even if it would open, which it doesn't. We put two bricks on either side of the sill to hold the uvb on. She even climbed up them to sit on top of the reptisun 10 fixture we had. Anyway the only "real" black beard she gave us was when my husband took the bricks of and attached a platform on each side to hold the uvb fixture on it so the bricks wouldn't fall on her and hurt her. It never did, just almost once that's why he changed it. Thinking back now, I don't think she wanted it changed. her beard was black for at LEAST a half an hour, maybe a little more. I never thought to get a picture of it.

Lucky you - Im quite jealous of the happy little guy you have there - I wouldnt change my little monster for the world but it would be nice to have a few more pics of his pretty white beard - I discovered just yesterday, during a 3 sec happy moment of his that his beard actually has a few orange streaks.... he was black again before I could get the camera!
