We were told by vets and some other people that calcisand was okay for adult and was recommended. His food is food isn't put in the sand. And is fed to him little at a time. So I don't think he really bothers rating the calci sand

I thought that when a beardie turns adult they tend to hunt less. Spikey hunts adult locust like he's still a baby.

I've heard that mostly meat diets aren't good for beardies. And I got a bit worried when he stopped eating his veg

This is a commonly held belief and wrong. It's all about balance and reproducing the diet wild dragons are likely to have. This is a very good guide : viewtopic.php?f=18&t=236074

Any vet who tells you that IS NOT A GOOD VET to use to care for your dragon - PERIOD. Any person who suggests it's OK to use even for adult dragons is giving very bad advise.
i will never advise using calcisand with ANY REPTILE, it will end badly for the reptile, guaranteed.

Calcisand is lethal to any dragon who accidentially ingests it with their food or when tasting their habitat - all dragons of this.

He will be tasting and testing the sand continuously as all dragons do , and will be walking the sand into his food dish where you place his greens and grated veg , and he will be getting some sand when ever he nails an insect.

Spikey is asleep at the moment so I'll post pictures of him when he's awake. He has a 10% 25w dessert UVB bulb, heat lap is on a thermoregulater solar spot 100w here are a few pictures of his viv and lighting set up

<<< how far is the 25W 10% tube from the basking spot ?
<<< what brand is it ?
<<< T8 or T5HO tube ? (it appears to be a T8 tube , if this is the case , and since there is no reflector , the dragon needs to be able to get very close to the naked tube to get adequate levels of UVA & UVB , see viewtopic.php?f=34&t=235611 , within 3-4 inches of the t8 10%UVB tube to get adequate UVA & UVB (ie 180-200 microW UVB / sq.cm at the basking spot).
If the t8 10%UVB is NOT an Arcadia, or Zoo Med or a Exo Terra tube, then it's a Chinese made poor quality clone and should be replaced immediately with a high quality tube.

I'd upgrade to a t5ho 10 - 12% UVB tube , but if this not an option ATM , I suggest replacing the tube with a good quality same size and rating tube and installing a slip on reflector (will essentially double the UV seen at the same distance).
<<< how old is the tube ? if its older than 6 months , it's no longer effective.

The lethargy is a common issue due to inadequate exposure to high intensity UVA.

Can also be due to impaction (in this case caused by a combination on calcisand ingestion and concrete like blockages in his GIT , and maybe insects that are too large.
You mention a relatively cool tank , and I don't see any decent thermometers (analog dial style thermometers are so inaccurate that they are worthless, if a dragon is too cold all the time this wil also result in lethargy , as can very bad weather outside too.

The Calcium sand can be dangerous as mentioned. Some, but not all dragons will actually eat it .

The lethargy can most likely be attributed to the low temp, and/or just the thing they do [ sleepy/brumation ] The uvb tube would never need to be 3-4" away. It is best to have a uvb tube more in the middle rather than the side though, these vivs have the uvb set in the back where it's not really ideal unless the dragon spends most of his time there. You might benefit from putting a mercury vapor bulb in as his basking lamp, it would provide heat AND extra uvb.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
