Obviously no one is reading what I have said such as I said I got the baby this way, not it was something that was done since i received it. I'm not stupid, I have been into reptiles at least 15 years, dragons for 11 and all other animals since birth (I have a farm with over 100 animals). If I didn't know what i was doing I wouldn't be here to embarrass myself with what what you seem to think is negligence. 10 or so years ago I did chat rooms and other websites for dragon owners and they sure didn't treat newbies this way. This is extremely offensive and disappointing! This reminds me of high school!
You're not negligent. That woman that you got them from is. I don't think anyone was trying to offend you and if they did, I apologize. If I wrote something to offend you, I apologize. I wasn't meaning for anything I wrote to be offensive if it sounded that way. It's rare for me to ask anything on the forums because I tend to keep what I think and know to myself. And if I need questions answered, I speak to Tracie, one of the global moderators on the site. She's really good at answering your questions and maybe she can help you out. I frequent another forum and it's on the link I provided in my earlier post. That's from a moderator called Germ, or Germain. (He's really good about answering questions too. He's actually a breeder and has several babies on hand.) If you want to know anything about the forum I frequent, feel free to PM me.
You're right. She was bragging her kids had a few adult dragons who had 3 clutches in 4 months and they were ALL kept together. She had an ad on pet page on fb selling them for $30. I messaged her and asked if could get 3 the following weekend when I got paid and explained my history with them. She private messaged me saying I could just have them and asked if I would take two more including one that was missing a leg. I asked if she had them all in one enclosure and her answer was "Of course, where else am I supposed to put them?" I arranged to pick them up the next day! She didn't care who they went to or why she just wanted them gone!
I saw a sale regarding bearded dragon babies being sold 'not healthy' and were special needs dragons. I rescued Melody from her owners who said they couldn't take care of her anymore because she ate too much crickets. They had other 'animals' and 'reptiles' needing more care than she. I spent over my intended budget and my savings because of their negligence. I had to buy her a 55 gallon reptile tank and supplies because they failed to give me the tank she was housed in to begin with along with her other decorations. They had her on a flat rock and pine wood shavings. (How bad is that?) They wouldn't give me any hints on how and what to feed her. When asked if she ate greens, they said yes, but they wouldn't tell me what kind. So I had to experiment with what she liked: collards, turnips, mustard greens. Her first meal was actually spring mix salad. She 'knew' what she could eat and what she couldn't eat out of the spring mix salad. Then I began researching on her diet, how to care for her, and interacting with my dragon. She was already hand-trained so that wasn't a problem. She cuddles up to me before bed, and doesn't like a lot of people around her. She runs to me all the time whenever someone new comes up. Or she'll sit in my hand, looking at them. I don't use pine shavings and use newspaper or paper towels. I intend to buy some slate tile at a later date so I don't have to trim her little nails.
People who don't know will buy a bearded dragon without knowing how much their greens and crickets are are negligent themselves. They don't take the time to ask questions or research. They just think they're 'lizards' and mean nothing. I feel sorry for the breeding pair of bearded dragons that woman owns. It's a shame that woman is heartless and if you want to get rid of the babies, why not sell them to the pet stores and become a breeder?
A Pet Store Owner from Petland tried to convince me to breed Melody with one of the males for sale there. I said, "No! I'm not breeding Melody with any male." Then he proceeded to tell me how much money I can make from selling the babies to them and that after I breeded Melody with the male, I can sell the male back to them after so many clutches. Still, I maintained my adamant behavior of "No." The male I checked out was bearding at people and hissing. Want to know why? Because he was bought in by a customer who didn't want him and parents were letting their children tap the glass, therefore stressing out the bearded dragon. Poor boy! I would've rescued him if I had an extra tank and room in my house. But I couldn't. I only hoped he got a good home because the last time I went there, he wasn't there. You know what else bothered me, the owner asked if I 'Loved' Melody? Well, of course I love Melody! How could you not love her? How could you not form a bond with them? The very day that Melody laid eyes on me, she ran to me and climbed up on my shoulder, not moving. From that day forward, she's taught me more than anything. (She does trust me to protect her.)
