Leopard gecko vs. Adult dubia

Just curious I haven't been able to read what I was thinking many places I have been purchasing crickets for the past two years. I rescued three adult leopard geckos these past couple years. In August of 2010 I decided to start my own future colony so I purchased about 100 extra small and it's been four months and they have been maturing. There in a class aquarium covered with construction paper on the outside and a heating pad attached to the bottom side in the low nineties. I do have a special needs gecko that is fed by hand because she cannot catch her free but I was wondering if anyone has any experience. Cutting up the roaches into pieces to give to smaller reptiles. At least a full grown ones. When I first purchased mine my plans work to let them mature and start breeding on their own and feed off of the second generation. But I don't want any Males to go to waste. So I was thinking about chopping them up and pieces preferably in four down the center and then in half. Because I know of two of my geckos would eat the pieces. Please any suggestions or hopeful information would be greatly appreciate.

All of my adult Leopard Geckos eat the adult male Dubia whole. And some of my juvies 30 grams and up will take an adult male that has just molted. When they are still white and soft the geckos will take them down with no problems. I don't waste any of the adult males, I just separate them into their own bin until they are fed off. My male bin has over 200 in it now (I get more new males than are fed off during the colder months)!

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I was thinking that maybe I would feed one adult male once a week to each of them because of the size. How is your feeding routine with your geckos and the adult Males dubia? The ones I purchased are just maturing into adults so I'm hoping to see some results in the next six months.

I feed each adult gecko an adult male Dubia every other day or so. Some of the younger adults that are still growing will eat an adult male every day. It just depends on the geckos hunger and metabolism.

I really appreciate the knowledge and also being that you're a leopard gecko owner. I feed my geckos 3 to 5 large crickets every 3 to 4 days. So it's pretty much going to be trial and error that I might do one adult male roach every three days or more if their mixed sizes. As soon as this colony establishes itself. Right now still waiting for them to start breeding and start colonizing. But so far so good. How big is your colony? I only have three geckos so I purchased about 100 four months ago. So they should all be adults by the end of this year and already breeding so I'm hoping it should triple or more in six more months.

In my colonies right now there are over 550 females 75 adult males and upwards of 75,000 nymphs! I have a lot and I started with around 300 mixed and 10 adult pairs back in December of last year!

I feed the nymphs only...most of the time. If there are way too many males, my bearded dragons will take care of them, but I try to feed them the nymphs, too, because they're easier to digest. This way their poop is firm if I feed them the nymphs. If you try feeding them the adults, it looks like the poop is not solid as it should be. And they make a big stinky mess when it comes out of the rear end.

I'm definitely thinking about feeding off a few freshly molted Males to see how they like it. And I cant wait for there to be a second generation from all of these once their adults which should be already happening. I'm excited because I have seen so many Males and a couple females. And think you every one for sharing your knowledge.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
