Lenny was diagnosed with an aneurysm

Hey all, so I drove 2 hours to get Lenny to the vet today for a large bump on his head, as well as abnormal hyperactivity. A little back history, so everything was A okay 2 weeks ago, I then left town last week oct7-15 and had a family member watch Len. Well since Len has been back home, he has been extremely skittish, and going crazy running around, glass dancing, scratching etc. well I realized Thursday a large bump on his head that concerned me. Fast forward to today, so I brought Lenny to the university of Illinois vet med school(only vet I trust) to have things checked out. They decided to run X-rays just to check to make sure everything looks okay since he's FAT and his fatty pads made him hard to palpate, weighing in at a whopping 955 grams. They wanted to do a FNA(fine needle aspiration) to see what they get from the bump, as well as run blood work too.) Bloodwork and X-rays came back perfect. The result of the FNA was mostly blood. They said a bit came out, but fills back up. So it is a hematoma just sitting on his head. They're thinking that due to his hyperactivity he maybe hurt himself which triggered the aneurysm to happen. The issue is they said that they aren't all too uncommon and often tend to be a birth defect. I happene to take everything out of the tank except one small rock, but they told me for now, atleast until the hematoma subsides, leave everything out for the safety of Lenny and leave handling to a minimum as well as don't let him run freely as much. The risk here is that a hematoma/aneurysm is somewhat serious, it doesn't cause pain or inhibit his brain function at all but if it ruptures he can bleed out... They said it is possible for them to come and go through his lifetime.

So in the end,$400 later Lenny is healthy but subject to a high danger of trauma that can incapacitate him, ultimately we just have to be extremely careful with him for now on.

Poor Lenny ! At least you have a diagnosis....I hope the hematoma subsides, it will be boring + stressful for him to not have anything to climb on. I think you could get away with a rolled up towel to prop himself up, though. By the way, please don't take offense, but are you positive he is not a SHE ? Such a large dragon, girthwise.....and the activity is what can be seen in a gravid female looking for a place to lay.

No offense taken! Actually the vet told me today she thinks Lenny should be a Lenora! Lol. Both vets think majority of the hyperactivity was all environmental due to the moving from place to place. And I do have towels in the tank.

And they did X-rays as well, Lenny, does not have eggs in her
