leash what the eff!

How in the world do you guys get ur leashes on ur beardies i love taking mr.b with me places but when i drive with him he likes to be on my dash board and I just want some way to restrict him from jumping off or running to far away from reach and tips??

They sell reptile leashes in most major chain pet stores.Some are mor difficult to get on then others.I like this type:

The others are just like strings with a clip and they are very difficult and loosen easily.

The one that Vicky posted the link to is great for babies. When they are adults, I prefer this one, gives them more freedom of movement, is totally adjustable and locks so that it doesn't get too tight or too loose. Usually I have the bottom cord lower on her belly. It's actually an iguana leash and harness.

Well, the first few times you put a leash on it is perfectly normal for them not to cooperate. All I got from mine the first few times were scratches and a headache!! Scorch still doesn't like her leash, but puts up with it.

I have 2 of the one that Vicky posted. How I get them on our girls is to put one leg in one side and hold it in place, then put the second leg in. I don't have to much problem with Zoom Zoom as she's not much of a fighter and a real sweetheart. Speedy gets fiesty sometimes and fights me. The other day, my husband noticed she gave him a look that said she wanted to go outside. She wouldn't let me put the leash on her, even tho I tried 2 times. Finally, I said to her (as usual) "if you don't let me put the leash on, you can't go outside" I put her back into her viv for a few minutes, she cooperated that time.

It took a while for her to get the point but as these two are more wanderers than our previous beardies were, a leash is a necessity or we would have lost them a long time ago. My husband insists on putting tying a piece of red yarn on the clip end of the leash. It helps us to see them when they wander and we, for some reason, haven't noticed.

We made our own leash with a long boot string and a pea size clip (the kind you find on a portable chair that zips tite) To get it on my lizzards I slip it over ther head and the tummy part slips over the arms then use the pea clip to zip it furmly on the lizzard. Somtimes thay are easy to get on and other times the lizzard isnt in the mood and it is harder. Keep trying you will get it.

We had to go to the ferrett section of pet smart because they didnt have anything like what diane posted we looked and even asked only thing small enough was this one kind. i love it because it has 2 snaps one for the neck and one for the belly so easy to get on.
Hes sheading so he was rubbing on the grass and pushed it back hes a silly boy.

I tried the TRex comfort one and just couldn't get his hands through the holes without feeling like I was going to break something. I ended up getting a shoe lace like the puffy skate shoe kind and tieing it around his neck once and then under his arms around his belly and then knotting it on top! it works great! and I didn't waste another $10! What's good about the puffy laces is the knots come out easier when you go to get them out but they won't slip! I will do it later and take some pics... promise.

The kitten harnesses are awesome beardie leashes! I have used ours (I have a girl leash and a boy leash) on all of the older dragons and not one of them struggle.

Maybe a bit more pricey than an "lizard" leash, but well worth it to not get scratched to bits :mrgreen:
