Lazy Beardie

I am pet sitting a Beardie who has lived his whole life in a 20gallon tank. He is really lazy and lately isn't eating his bugs. Is he bruminating? He may be shedding. He also hasn't had a good poo since I started caring for him about 2 weeks ago. Should I give him a bath? What temp should the water be?

When we got our new rescues one of them was quite lethargic as well. He was quite dehydrated, the vet I talked with recommended 50/50 water and Pedialite (sp? brand names throw me off) for his baths. He actually drank from the bath when we first put him in which was pretty awesome. :blob8: I'd say start with just a normal lukewarm bath for now though and take it from there.

Since that his appetite has perked back up too. It's awesome you care enough to come here and ask about someone else's pet btw =).

I am a pet sitter so it is important he is healthy when he leaves me next week. I will really encourage his owner to get him a larger tank.

I started giving him pellets and salads and I *think* he is eating some of the salad. Or at least he is throwing it around. I'll give him another bath and hopefully he'll perk up. I am nearly positive he is shedding. He looks dull and flaky.

I think my own Beardie, Holly, is shedding too. She looks dull and is less interested in her salads, though it could be the kale I added to it. She will take roaches and crickets by hand.

To be honest even after a month I don't think Mookari is eating enough of his veggies either.

Opal seems pretty good with hers and my one I raised from a baby (Mungi) clears the dish. But Moo seems to do the "kick around" thing somewhat as well. It can be hard to tell because with natural greens shriveling and the kicking....Yeah good luck keeping up with exactly how much is left  .

Keep with the baths every day or two and keep offering greens/live feeders. You're doing just fine :).

I notice my Mookie and Opal are also shedding, seems to be mostly centralized around above the eyes right now although in other spots looking a bit pale as well. I'd include Mungi but Mungi is 8 months and pretty much constantly shedding  .

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
