So her nails are getting bigger and sharper, this never happened when she was a Lil baby. I got her for my bday on Feb 2nd. I believe she was only about 2 weeks old when my husband brought her home for me. I have a bunch of pictures under pictures of Lazarus. So on to the question, now when she walks on me I get little red bumps where ever she walks. They get really red and itch like crazy! She is going through another big shed so she gets baths every day if not twice a day depending on how bad. When she climbed out today it was up my arm till I got her in her towel, then up my stomach and chest to my shoulder and she rests her head on my neck. They tend to go away within a few hours but it's just odd and they itch like crazy, no one else gets them in my family. I'm wondering if it will subside and go back to normal soon, it makes me sad that I get all itchy when she just wants to cuddle. : ( could I be allergic?

We have a ton of odd real allergies in our family and I have learned that a person can be allergic to just about anything. An allergist can order blood testing or do scratch testing to determine allergies. Blood testing will mostly be needed on more unique allergies. If you are atopic skin tests are not as accurate.

Regarding the BD, if it is not allergies than it may be that the nails are too long. Is the BD on tile?

Hope you are okay.

What sort of substrate do you use? When my blue tongue was sneezing a lot a few years ago the vet said she might be allergic to the Kritter Krumble I use for her (it's coir peat). I could imagine that some of the organic substrates could be allergenic. An allergist does sound like a good idea.

SDRAGONs, hi thank you for ur response. No she isn't she is on tile we have her on carpet for now. We want to put in tile, and does the tile help the nails? The nails are definitely getting long just worried about cutting them, but I know going to have to eventually. I'm going to bring it up to my GP see what he says.
label, thank you for response too. Hope that answers your post as well. She does have 2 different types of wood in with her so don't know if that will help with filing them naturally at all or not.

Solution to long super sharp needle like nails is to trim them, I use a pair of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pet-Dog-Cat-Rabbit-Bird-Gerbil-Care-Nail-Claw-Clipper-Scissors-Grooming-Trimmer-/121213613185?hash=item1c38e4f481:g:xnQAAOSwa-dWmJNd , wait til the hatchling is asleep or very sleepy late in the evening , take it and cuddle it and gently take off the last 2 mm from each nail while petting the beardie between each snip.

I gave my two 6 month old's Peppa and Toothless their first nail trimming last week, both were good as gold and no bother at all when I did their nails. Trick is to be gentle.

I use course grade Kritter's Crumble for my bluetongues too, I mix some dry bluegum litter with it I(my big tree in my front yard supplies the leaflitter copiously and free of charge..

Yes , sometimes it makes my BTs sneezy too. It's the dust that they generate when burrowing and fossicking through it which is something they love to do, I think the stuff tickles them as they crawl through it.

I have experienced the same thing w/my beardie also. Small raised itchy little bumps, but only on the under side of my forearms. I don't get them every time I hold her, not sure why. I usually just put antibacterial hand sanitizer on my skin when the itchy bumps appear. The alcohol in the germX dries it up quicker. Of course you don't want to put the antibacterial hand gel on it if you've scratched the hell out of your skin or it will burn like hell.

I experience the same thing. Even the texture of Kenny's skin makes me get little red bumps sometimes. I just don't think my skin likes his texture, especially his nails. The more I keep up with his nails the better off I am. Also, make sure he is clean and his tank! If Kenny is on the dirtier side (between baths) that can cause me to breakout too. So clean beardie, clean tank, and short nails help me :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
