Hello Everyone.
I just have a few questions about females and laying eggs. (if this is not the right topic to be under please let me know and i will post this elsewhere).
My girl is close to 1.5 years old and i was wondering a few things about laying eggs.

Do all females lay eggs?
Is there a particular age where said egg laying happens?
How will i know she is about to lay eggs?
Dig box. What is the best size and substrate to use when this does happen?

I've seen people put their Beardies in a huge Rubbermaid box filled with sand and just leave them there for a few days..

She hasn't shown any signs of this at all i was just more curious than anything (I've seen a lot of videos popping up on my fb page and it got me thinking).

Hope you all are having a fantastic day :)

Not all females lay, some might and some never do. Some may even go without laying until their 10 or more years old. Just depends on the female.

Normally females will gain a bit more weight, their belly may be plumper, you may be able to see or feel the eggs and she'll probably be digging everywhere in the tank.
However, it should be noted that not all the time will you be able to feel/see the eggs inside of a female, in fact when the time comes it could be a complete surprise and even though she was full of eggs you could have never known until she laid them.

As far as a dig box goes I personally use a 90 quart bin and then a eco earth (block form) and vermiculite mix for the substrate. This, however, is just what I had on hand at the time so I'm not sure if washed play sand would be better or not.
Also, a 90 quart bin is probably the smallest size you want to go.

Personally, I'd never leave a beardie in a dig box overnight or for a few days unless she was still digging or if I had it set up where it was like a temporary home.
The longest I've left my beardie in a dig box was probably over 5 hours.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
