Well my first clutch of the year, 14 in all and all but two have hatched, they started on the 11th and last one hatched out 3 days ago They started hatching on day 56. Now I have 2 eggs left in the incubator from that batch and just finished putting a light to them both and I see tons of veins all over, the eggs are HUGE and I can see nothing else inside.....Any idea's guys?? I am perplexed.

Have patience my friend, eggs tend to do what they want with no rhyme or reason. I've had half a clutch hatch a week early and the other half hatch a week late, just enjoy the surprises as they come.

I totally agree! Last time all mine hatched but one. The largest egg since it was laid was the last to hatch & when it hadn't hatched in 2 weeks after the others I almost threw it out. But it hatched in a day or two, so it was a little over 2 weeks overdue. I'm glad my patience paid off!

Unfortunately, somehow the lil guy in the second egg got himself turned round after he punctured his egg, I don't think he's alive anymore :( The egg is drying up and he has not moved, so so sad, he was a beautiful leatherback. To lose them at this stage just breaks my heart..

OMG that's sooo sad! I can't imagine going thru 2 months of waiting & when it's hatching it duznt make it! Nature can b cruel at times....so sad... Am so sorry 4 ur loss. :(( I lost another egg yesterday -- am down from 19 to 8!!! Idk what's going on this time---4 yrs ago I had 58 in one clutch & came out with 52 live babies but this time it's different. I know my vermiculites been dry & have corrected that problem so hopefully that'll help. This was an accident, as my 1st babies were 4 yrs ago but I'm thinking seriously of investing in a proper incubator just in case it happens again. Having to improvise & make ur own is just asking for trouble, if u ask me, altho I did really well last time. But it's not worth all the time, stress, waiting and then having eggs die, etc etc. if I can just get what's left of my eggs thru the next month w/o any probs, I'll b ok. I'm wundring tho what cud've happened to ur lost baby? U mentioned in an earlier post the egg was huge & had veins in it so it seemed ok to till it hatched. Did u see it with the head poked out & then later it was turned around sumhow? I didnt no that cud happen--their heads r so big, even as hatchlings, I don't c how he cudda got his head back in the egg facing backwards. If so, he likely cudnt get air & breathe. am wundring how often this happens & if it's sumthing I need to look for when the time comes. I am really sorry for u and my thots & prayers r with u :(

Thank you Ann, His lil head was not poking yet but he had made the slit in the egg with his egg tooth enough for me to see his nose through it, then this morning he was turned around and dead... I have now opened the egg a lil further and he's got a huge egg sack, at least the size of his head. Wondering why he would open the egg if he was not ready.... :dontknow: so so sad.

Oh gosh... That's just so sad I cant stand it. After reading ur post I had a response from NurseKrista1014 who just reported the same as u! She lost a baby who was partially out of its egg too. My heart goes out to both of y'all. I mentioned ur post to her as well & gave my condolences. Two posts in a row re: losing a hatchling! Almost 2 much 2 bear!! I was thinking urs had its head out already. If the baby didn't seem ready to hatch yet, as it appeared when u opened the egg up, and there was a slit in the egg, do u think it cud've happened accidentally? Not that the baby was trying to get himself out yet but mayb sumhow scratched it hard enuff from the inside to rupture the egg?? Idk. Just trying to think what might've happened. Did the baby have a fully developed egg tooth yet that it used to open its egg with? Again, I'm so very sorry.....makes me wanna go check on mine every 2-3 mins now to make sure they're ok. :(

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
