Kratos And Xerxes(even if he is a she)

We lost our little man on Friday OUTSIDE! I had let Kratos out of his cage because he was going stir crazy. He wanted to go outside...now that the weather has been nice I put him out in his cage everyday....however friday I just let him roam in the house because I was in a hurry. NOW I wish I would have taken the time to put him out in his cage. I didn't realize when I let him out that one of the kids opened on of the windows that I had taken the screens off to wash and hadn't put back on. The windows are only 11 inches from the floor and are his favorite basking spot in the house. I left him out while I ran errands because our living rooms where he roams are totally safe and there is nowhere for him to hide. When we came home my son started looking for him and we quickly realized that he had gotten out. We looked all over our back yard and went to the neighbors houses. I've talked to the neighbors behind us and on our court, I put an add on craigslist, and today I'm putting up flyers around the neighborhood. My fear is that a cat or hawk got him and I'm just worried sick. Those of you who have lost your beardies outside and found them, what were the temps outside, and how far from home did they get? Can you think of anything else that I should be doing?

Still no Kratos...the last few nights I have had dreams about finding him, I really hope he shows up. I really don't think he is in our yard but I have been looking everyday still. I need to make more flyers because I'm almost out. I have been handing them out to all the yard service people in my area and anyone that seems to be doing any sort of work in the area. I figure someone working outside is more likely to find him than I will especially when they have access to their clients back yards and I don't.

I think I spent half the day on the phone yesterday talking to different rescues, animal control, and whoever else they all told me to call. It seemed everyone had a suggestion on who needed to know LOL. I talked to the ag commissioner, state trapper that handles our area, the local zoo, you name it. I had no idea half these places existed or were of importance for me to call. Everyone was so nice and helpful and really wanted to help out. If we don't get him back its not because we didn't try.....at this point I just wish I knew if he was still safe.

So many suggestions when really its going to be up to Kratos to show himself. As long as your overnight temps aren't to bad then there's no reason he couldn't still be out there. I mean he certainly doesn't look like normal food so if anyones dog or cat found him then I'm sure the owners would contact animal control to figure out what he is and who he belongs to...

I'm sorry this happened to you all, its certainly not fair and I too hope he's okay whereever he is. (Maybe he's found himself a nice tree to hang out in, he could be watching you all right now!)

Anyways hang in there. I'm not saying to keep your sons hopes up but there are several cases of pets gone missing and they turn up some time later. This must be exausting for you all *hugs*

There are 2 kinds of worried that you could be right now.

Worried about finding Kratos, and worried for his health and well being.

Granted it is warm outside, and all kinds of animals live outside, I wouldn't worry about Kratos starving or being cold, or vulnerable to the weather. Finding him is what you are worried about and need to focus on. You've done the foundation work with talking to neighbors and making flyers and even talking to the lawn crew people in the area (smart move!)

To be honest, the little guy is probably in your yard or a yard over. I doubt he is "blocks away" but rather right under your nose. Like someone else said, he could be watching you right now!

Think like a reptile. go in your back yard or whereever he was able to get out to and lay down, survey the world from his eye level and look for places and nooks that you would probably make "home base in the big outdoors"

maybe even putting a small transparent container of some crickets or roachers (or whatever feeders you use) outside with the lid on could beckon him out. In the past, my Beardie would try to eat crickets and stuff "through the glass" and perhaps seeing some tastey bugs out will lure him out and you could catch him "trying to eat them" If you try this, put the container on a cookie sheet and dust it with flour or calcium...you might see some tracks if he approached it when you werent looking.

Good luck finding Kratos. I'm sure after you find him this will the be last vacation he gets to take on his own ever!

This is true. Just because the window is open doesn't mean he went out the window. You just never know!

GEEZ I got a phone call from animal control telling me she thinks she has Kratos but he was found wandering on the other side of town. Anyhow, I drive down expecting it to not be him but still hoping. Of course it wasn't. This Poor baby has MBD and I'm pretty sure has fungal issues but maybe he just needs a good shed. I asked her how far they usually wander from home and she said I don't know no one ever calls to report one missing! REALLY???? That just pisses me off so much because here I am looking all over wanting to find my little man and this little guy probably won't get back home. She asked me if I wanted to take him... I was torn because Kratos has Adeno and I don't know that this guy does. He is probably sick and I'm not sure I want to bring extra health issues into the house for Kratos to deal with "IF" we find him. Unfortunately this made me realize that Kratos maybe out wandering around as well and lord knows how far he's made it. This sucks!!!!!

Man, oh man. I would have taken that beardie home and my husband would have flipped out. I am glad you thought it through first because you are right, that is a whole nother problem to deal with and you already have your own problems. :(

I do have my kids and the other kids on our block looking and the neighbor behind me has her grandkids looking. Also I figure the neighbors are going to get frustrated at the kids searching for him verses seeing me up next to their window everyday LOL.

Yes I looked everywhere! He never leaves the main part of the house BUT I did look in all the bedrooms and closets you name it.

Long story, but the 'companion' to my beloved rescue beardie was 'found' in a shed after being lost for 5 months and he is in the reptile shop needing a home, I-CAN'T-TAKE-HIM. But I can't stop thinking about him. :?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
