Kookie is like 5 1/2 mo. old now and the older he gets the wilder he's getting. He fights like mad to get down when he's in my hands. He's still on medication for coccidia, which is probably not helping matters since I'm trying to force a syringe into his mouth. I take him out of his cage a few times a day and every time he just goes berserk to get down. I don't know what to do to get him to calm down. It's making me sad that I can't really hold him. Any suggestions?

BTW, I've had him since he was a month old.

OK I might have something that will help you out...My little boy McLuvin always ran from one end of the cage to the other so I couldnt get him...I started giving him crickets by hand so he didn't see me puting my hand in as something unpleasent...it only took a week of this and now he will let us hold him and love on him...also there is a thing on here about rice Beds and they work great for calming them down and feeling relaxed. You take an old but clean sock and fill it with rice then sew up the end so that no rice can come out...I think you can use beans as well...after you have it all sewed up you can pop it in the mirco wave for 30sec and heat it up, then place him on it while you hold him...mine love it! Hope some of this helps..if not, I'm sure others will chime in as this is a great place to get info!

Thank you, Supermom. He's not afraid for me to take him out of his cage. He's always ready to get out. He's not afraid of my hand or anything like that. He just gets freakie after he's out and wants loose. When he's running around on the floor, I have no problem picking him back up. It's when I'm holding him that he just gets wild and crazy. :?

Thank you :D

I would try the rice sock, it seems to put them at ease or try offering him his fav treat while holding him..I'm sure he will come around

Kookie will eventually calm down, I promise. Once they hit puberty at about 6 mo or a little older, it takes a little time for some of them to get over their crankiness BUT does help them to calm down & start sitting on your shoulder or lap, etc. Have you tried a nice warm bath a little before bedtime, blotting him dry and then wrapping him in a fluffy towel or small blanket & placing him on your chest? Not many can resist that. The bath calms them and rubbing their backs also relaxes them. Once he falls asleep and you get done cuddling him, you should be able to pick him up & place him in his tank without even waking up. I do this all the time and it works very well. Let us know how all these suggestions work and good luck.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
