Kinked Tail

Recently my roommate got a bearded dragon from a friend who was no longer able to care for him. My roommate was not taking the best care of him so I decided to “take over”. He seems pretty healthy except for his very kinky tail. I think it might be from a calcium deficiency?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also my roommate says he should be almost a year old but he’s only about 11.5 inches which makes me think he’s either younger than that or is stunted due to lack of proper nutrition.

The kink in the tail is permanent.

Please keep the cat away from the dragon. Is very dangerous and will not end well for the dragon and cats can turn nasty in an instant.

Hi there. Yes I understand that it’s permanent I’m just wondering how it could’ve happened?

MBD ( lack of adequate UVB and or dietary Ca )
or
Birth defect (formed this way In the egg)

are I think the most likely causes.

I don't think it's been caused by trauma to the tail ( happens in accidents and when other dragons attack or try to eat the tail).

I don’t think he was born that way from what I’ve heard. Unfortunately it seems like the cause was most likely due to imporoper care.
