Okay hey guys,
I posted a topic here a while ago about my beardy and Im just writing this to see if she is really doing an improvement or not (also If I am lol)

Okay so,
before my Beardy would not let me pick her up AT ALL, she would run wherever she was, jump off logs and open her mouth and jump all around the cages..
Now she lets me pick her up but only in certain places sometimes, when she is on the logs I talk to her, pet her, then pick her up, as soon as I put her towards the log again (I was trying to get her off) she would jump right off.. but now when I pick her up and she lets me, it seems that she doesnt want to get off haha because I will do the kinda "get off me now my mum is calling me" or "I gotta go to work baby", she will turn in my hand, and position herself nicely and rest her head by my thumb where there is a cushon kinda.. or sometimes she will walk up abit, lick my arm, and walk even farther up my arm haha (this is all inside the cage because I will not take her out incase and I will explain in a second)

But when she is on the ground, not on a log or anything, it is SO hard to get her, as soon as I go near her and try to pet her she will run and open her mouth at me, I really don't know why because when she is on the log she is almost perfect with me.. any reason why that is anyone??

Also one more thing, I noticed once she was on one of these floating rock magnets i have, I put my hand in to pet her slowly and she opened her mouth at me, as soon as I started to talk to her she REALLY calmed down and I could pet her and sometimes able to pick her up just like that..

Please give me any feedback lol,
thanks guys... Sean

Sounds like you are doing a great job socializing her... keep it up and be presistant with her. She will get used to it in no time.

As far as when you have her on the floor, it's pretty normal for young beardies, and even older beardies who haven't been able to properlly adapt to their surrounding to behave like this. When my little guy was young, I would lock myself in the bathroom with him for hours (he was too small to let run around the house) I would just sit on the floor and read a book or something while I let him explore, It basically gets him used to you being there while he is out in the open and feeling volunnerable. take a moment and reach for her every once in a while and return her to your lap, then let her wander off again. she will soon lean that you are not there to eat her :p

That sounds like a great idea,
my bathroom has like.. nowhere to go haha, its a big bathroom but nothing she can hide in and get hurt on, so Im going to try that lol.

&& I also just noticed, her water goes down.. but I NEVER see her drinking it.. is it just evaporating or do they like to drink when no one is looking?.. If not, what would I have to do to get her to drink ?

Water levels most likely go down from it evaporating, but it is possible she is sneaking a drink or two during the day. also if they jump in or try to swim in it she may splash some around.

Your best bet would be to use a water dropper or just dip your finger in some water, and drip it onto the tip of her nose, she should eventually begin to lap it up... If not right away keep at it for a few days, until she gets used to it.

As she gets older and starts eating more greens she will keep more hydrated. you should put enough water into the dish of green until they are floating, this will keep the greens fresh longer, as well as increase the chance of her getting a mouth full of water as she eats.

If none of these methods work for you right now you can mist her body and side of the tank (not too much on the tank or you risk raising your humidity levels too much and respitory infections can come of this) this doesn't work for me as my little guy gets pretty freaked out by the misting. I bathe mine every other day or so instead, luke warm water, with the taop dripping just a bit to move the water. and he has began to love it... they seem to aquire the ability to swim somewhere around 6 months of age. and they usually poop within the first few min of being in water (keeps them from pooping in their cage if you can get them on a schedule)

Keep in mind they are native to an arid area, and do not get much water to begin with.

Dripping water on his nose in the midst of a bath has gotten my little guy to drink. I also give him baths almost everyday. With one hand I hold him and with the other I cup water and pour it on his back. I think he likes the movement of the water, so when I drip it on his nose, he slurps it up. (Except when I add calcium supplement to the water... He always seems to know it's in there and doesn't drink it! Yargh.) Sometimes, I'll dip his mouth into the water during a bath and he'll drink and drink and drink.

Thanks guys.
& So the other day I just poured water into his dish, held the bottle at a decent height and poured it slowly so he would hear the dripping sound and cause movement to attract him to it and that made him walk over and lick at it a few times, I think she's getting better.

One more thing..
I find it some days she will allow me to pet her and touch her with no problem and pick her up, she won't seem to want to get off.. every time I go to put her down I guess she knows the "go back on your log" kinda thing and will move farther into my palm and lay down and get comfy. But some days she is like, almost total opposite lol, hardly lets me go near her and I find it kind of odd aha.
Would this be a normal thing for a beardy to do? Feel comfortable with you some days, and others not so much ?

Brutus wants nothing to do with me in the mornings. I don't know why. Last night he spent 3 hours outside the tank hanging out with me. When I put my hand in his tank this morning to move the food dish, he ran to the other side of the tank as if I was trying to attack him.

I think they have moods like anyone else. Maybe you'll find it has to do with a certain time of day or maybe she's not feeling well, or is shedding. Brutus is always grumpy around shedding-time.

Thanks, && Im really sorry to do this butt I have another thing to sayy !! Im really sorry, I just really want to get to know how to get use to my Beardy..
Kylee finished shedding last night, but today she is trying hard to get out.. (I dont want to take her out of the tank just as yet but I will LOVE to hold her to get her tame quickly so I can take her out with me as I would like to be able to take her outside in the summer time or something and her be REALLY comfy with me..) But as of right now I don't really want to take her out because I am afriad of her running away because she does not let me pick her up everywhere she is.. but since she looked so eager to get her out I wanted to pick her up and maybe make her feel good, no way was that happening... she made her body flat, made her beard BIG, and made a heavy breathing sound (I think its the heaviest Ive ever heard it) so I really don't know.. she is really good sometimes, really bad like this now so I am not sure if I am really doing something wrong or if this is how they will get..

If I keep talking to her and putting my hand near her or trying to pet her will she calm down or what?...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
