Hey guys,

So Mozart is a little over a year old. We just got a little baby dragon, Phoenix. The cages are across the room from eachother...but recently Mozarts been trying like hell to escape his cage. I assumed he saw the baby and was trying to get to him so I put a t shirt on one side so he couldnt see the baby. But he is still trying to escape.

His temps are around 85 degrees on the cool side and 100 on the hot side.

I also thought he might be hungry so I gave more crickets than I usually do and he ate them right up.

But yet, he is still trying to get out!

any ideas?

update: So Mozart is not chasing crickets around anymore and he threw up the crickets he already ate. He just did something pretty weird...he just spit up some of the squash I had given him earlier...still whole

I almost seems like he's not chewing his food properly and is spitting it up instead. Whats strange is he doesn't seem to be in any pain or anything...

anybody know whats going on? should I wait a day or two to see if he gets any better? I don't want to hurt him by giving him food that he's just going to throw up after...

Could be spring fever. At about a year old Mozart is the equivalent of a teenager, and has all manner of hormones and energy. If the weather is warming up where you are (somehow they can tell even if they have no window access - barometric pressure or something) they get all weird and hyper. It's normal, but you might try to spend more time with him and let him out to explore and burn some energy.

Mr Dargon has been like that a lot lately. I have to take him out of his cage and let him terrorize the couch, computer desk and hallway. they really like to explore.

Thanks for the replies guys. Ive been letting him run around my room lately and he loves it. But for some reason when he's in his cage he still tries to escape...

A recent development..It looks like he may have thrown up the crickets he ate earlier. He ate quite a bit of vegetables earlier today and when I gave him crickets, he wasn't chasing them around like he normally does. He then decided to run around and eat about 4 of them. Only to find them thrown up a couple of hours later...

Is something serious going on?

I should also note that he is a bright color and very active as he still is running around. He seems otherwise fine other than the throw up.

Throwing up sometimes happens when they're not warm enough to digest their food. We try not to take Richard or Dubs out of their vivs within a couple of hours of eating a big meal, so they're warm enough to digest the food. And we've read not to feed them more than 2 hours before lights out for the same reason. If Mozart ate the crickets then was out running around for a while, maybe his digestive system just didn't deal with them. That happened once with Dubs when my son took him to school one afternoon - he was out of his basking area for several hours, but some of the kids wanted to watch him catch crickets anyway. He threw up the crickets the next day but that was two years ago and he's never had another problem.

We had issues with our beardie throwing up so we took her to the vet. She had parasites that were upsetting her stomach. I would bring in a stool sample and have it checked out.

like it was said already, make sure the temps are high enough and he has 2 hours minimum to digest the food. also, make sure that the food is the correct size. if it is too big it will be harder to digest, if it is too small they will swallow it whole.

if that doesn't correct it go to the vet. or you can get Reptaid (currently found on Amazon) that is supposed to help fight parasites.

Hi - I am a brand new beardie mom and this entire site has been a blessing. I have had our beardie for exactly 1 1/2 days and occasionally he jumps up the sides. He will climb a rock and try jumping as far up as he can. Is he unhappy? I took him outside to rest in the sun for a bit and he seemed to really like it. He seems to like being held, he isn't jumpy (unless there is a loud noise) or tense. Should I get him out when he jumps/scratches against the glass? I think I am reading his body language correctly. We covered the back and sides because he saw his reflection and started head bobbing. He hasn't done it to us or since. Any knowledge is greatly appreciated. There is so much stuff out there on the web it is almost impossible to find out what is right/wrong, good/bad.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
