Keeping away

Sahara has been staying away from the basking spot recently. My setup is a reptisun 10 with a 75w flood lamp. the temps are okay (100-105 bask, 90 warm, 75-80 cool). She isn't right there under the basking light most of the time though, she's just to the side of it where the temps are in the 90s rather than 100s.

Any ideas?

only for a bit. she get snuggles after bathtime after dinner, then to the basking spot. she stays still while i'm there, but when i check back in a bit shes skittered to a slightly higher point right next 2 the basking spot...

Seems OK to me. Keep in mind that they don't want the full heat all day, every day. In the wild, it is said that they bask in the morning hours and the later afternoon hours. Much of the day is spent in the shade or even burrowed when it is extremely hot. As long as there is a good grade of heat, they will self regulate.

The other possibility is the location of the UVB in relation to the heat source. Are they right next to each other or on opposite sides of the tank? You want it so when basking the dragon is receiving ample heat AND UVB at the same time.

with the basking spot under the heat lamp 2-3 inches farther away than the spot under the reptisun.

Looks ok to me then. Just to be safe...how old is that reptisun?

got it in jan, so it should have 3ish months left in it
