I brought my little guy to vet because he had blood
In his stool. He had 2 different kinds of worms. Was treated with metronidazole and panacur. He has 2 more doses of panache left. Vet said its a never ending cycle because of the live food. Is there anything I could give him that prevents worms ?????

There is a cleaner that you can use it will help stop some of the parasites that beardies get. One of the main ways to keep your beardie healthly is to keep their cage clean. So clean out the poo as soon as it happens. And it you have to use medication that a vet gives you make sure that you use a probiotic with it. A good website that you can get all these products at is http://www.beardeddragon.co they also sell fecal test kits and medication to help fight the parasites. I hope this cleared it up for you :)

Most beardies have low levels of coccidia naturally, but they can get out of hand if the beardie is stressed, or lives in an unclean environment (especially if feeders come into contact with the beardie's poop). Sometimes beardies get parasites from feeders, and I believe crickets are the feeder that carry parasites most often. The best ways to prevent parasites in your beardie would be to only order feeders from reputable sites or stores, and to keep your beardie's enclosure clean (not using loose substrate, cleaning up after poop every day as soon as possible, disinfecting the entire tank regularly, baking wood or rock furniture, steam cleaning, etc.).

I don't believe there is a "preventative product," but probiotics (like Bene-bac, Acidophilus, even soy yogurt) are always a good thing to help keep the natural balance of flora in your beardie's digestive system. And obviously, keeping your beardie healthy by providing the proper nutrition, temperatures, calcium and vitamin supplementation, and UVB lighting will help to keep his immune system strong.

Hope that helps! :)

I just have probotic powder that I got from beardeddragon.co what probotics do is replish good bacteria so that they can help fight off any parasite. There are different medications for different parasites you just have to know which one or ones your beardie has.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
