Karma & Norbert Pics-German Giant Dance

So yesterday we rescued a little baby that we named Yuki. (link about her here viewtopic.php?f=45&t=108964&hilit=) Then again last night we adopted a new family member named Norbert. My wife brought our huge german giant, Karma, with her for the trip and when she got to the door, Norberts family saw Karma and said "aww, it's a little version of Norbert. Turns out he's an even bigger German giant than Karma is, and stocky. So today we let them run around together for a bit, and then put them in her cage for a while to see how they'd get along. I don't think he knows how to mate yet but he certainly started to try. Anyway enough rambling here's some shots of their mating dance and hanging out later.

Just before these pictures of them in the viv he tried to mount her, actually got a hold of the spikes on the back of her head and held on for about a minute, but then he didn't know what to do and let her go... so in these pics she went to the log to sulk.

We also bought 3 more beardies today but we were on our way out the door for fireworks when my wife got back with them. 1 is a hypo trans girl, so we're told, doesn't look quite like it but it's very pretty. The other two are boys, they are both missing most of their tails and one is missing a foot but they're both strong and happy looking. This puts our numbers up to 13 beardies, once we get them named I'm going to have to update my signature if I can fit them all. I'll take pictures tomorrow and update my post on the baby that's recovering.

Well we didn't get him to breed, but since he's here we might. We had another german giant that's bigger than Norbert that we were going to get to breed with Karma. But since we have him, we wouldn't need to get monster. We wanted to breed Jester with Karma and get some Pastel German Giants but... even Jester was our biggest male, he's not long enough to reach on Karma. He tried, hard, and Karma even bent around for him to get a better reach and he still wasn't long enough.

Hah, yes, my wife is something. Every time I turn around we have a new family member from somewhere that, either we apparently really want for breeding, or they needed a better home than where they were, or they had a great home and needed someone like us to continue that do to life situations of their last family. I'm not quite sure how she does it but last month, we had 10 reptiles, most of which we've had for over a couple years, and this month, we have 18 reptiles.... They're all awesome. I tease her that we're going to have to sell our human babies and their stuff to make room in their rooms for any more beardies

Not yet, no names for the new 3, turns out their not as strong as I though, they're lively but with the way they looked I thought they were younger. Last night we got them all out for baths before putting them in their newer big vivs and we realized how under weight they are. No where near as bad as Yuki... but their hips are jetting out pretty noticeably. We'll get some meet on their bones. He told us that the female hypo trans was ready to bread.... I'm sure she's not a hypo, or a trans, she might be a pastel, but man is she going to need to thicken up a lot before breeding.. I don't think people understand how much food and nutrients it actually takes to create 30 little babies... 2 years ago when Karma laid eggs, even being a plump german giant, she weighed almost nothing after each clutch and we had to fatten her up quick and gave her extra calcium and vitamins. They seriously need prenatals for beardies...

Yes they're a great pair. I think we might have to pass on monster, Norbert is WAY too damn cute.

I think, you meant virile, viral is more sickly and he's definitely not that. I love the german giants, they're calmer and the perfect size for sleeping on your forearm.

I'll get to work on feeding everyone and setting up vivs for the last of the new 3 and I'll get back with pictures.

How long are Karma and Norbert? Norbert is really stocky, I bet he weighs over 700 grams easily.

Wow what a lovely family, thanks for sharing, they are all great! I am glad Yuki is doing much better!

God , how do you do it with all those babies? i have 5 and they keep me busy , everything from feeding, bathing, cleaaning poop and vivs, and quality time. it's a full time job, and i already have one of those. but i do love it. i would like more , but don't have the space,

It's not that hard, we even got 5 more today making it 20 beardies.. we'll have picks up soon once we get their vivs setup. They are adorable. Basically we tiled all their cages. Anytime one of em poos we wipe it up right away and wash the tiles every weekend or two (depending on available time and how much of a mess they make). Then we got lots of the repti-cal pellets that they all love and we feed those to them every day (they dry out quick so a spray with the spray bottle in the afternoon lets them eat again). We give em hand fulls of collard greens and meals worms and crickets. Periodically we give them pinki mice as treats (for the bigger ones). And for quality time, all the neighborhood kids come over every day and we bring them all out 2 or 3 at a time and the kids hold them and play with em for a couple hours. It definitely keeps our hands full with the 14 month old baby boy running around but he helps out as much as he can he's adorable and sooo good with the lizards.
