Hey Everyone, you may remember me from my previous post introducing myself here - viewtopic.php?f=44&t=129478&p=1038176#p1038176 and then another post introducing my egg here - viewtopic.php?f=44&t=129916 a way back in July.

The day has finally come for my Bearded Dragon to arrive. He is arriving later today by courier. This has been an amazing experience for me as I have been following progress from egg to hatching to growing big and healthy enough to make the journey from London to Glasgow. I have had a custom built vivarium made for my baby in oak and is 4ft x2ft x2ft.

I will be back later on to give more details on viv and setup and of course with pictures as soon as I can.

I'M SO EXCITED.... WOOOHOOO!!!!!

Beardie came very late last night, at 12pm. Gave bath to warm him up and get him hydrated as he has been travelling for two whole days, poor baby. Two poops before I went to bed were cleaned up, yay for presents lol. Made sure viv was okay for night time and sent him to sleep, which he seemed to need. Woke up this morning and can already see that his stress marks have lessened. He hasn't ate anything but had another bath today (as he is in shed) and he did another poop.

I have some pics and I will let you know about my setup just now.

I have a custom built 4ft x 2ft x 2ft Vivarium. 32" Arcadia 13% Strip bulb with reflector and a red 150walt bulb which is connected to a habistat dimmer. There are two of those exo terra stick on thermometers which were provided by person who made viv. I do however also have a Digital thermometer too. His subsrate is lino. His basking spot is about 12 inches from bulb. Does this all sound okay???

Anyways here are some pics :D

Anyways I am a new beardie mum so any advice is greatly appreciated.

PS clutch hatched 25th of July, so he is 8 weeks old. We still don't have a name, but I'm sure we will think of one soon :)

Awwww he is so cute, and your setup looks good. Love the tiles :blob8:

The only suggestion I can offer is that you remove the RED bulb ASAP
Bearded dragons need Bright White light, they dont like colours at all.
You can replace it with a normal household bulb (No need for expensive reptile bulbs) Just make sure its a regular bulb not the energy saving kind as they emit no heat.
Play around with the wattages till you get the desired temps.

And just have to say AGAIN, he is sooo cute

:love5: So darn cute!
I would just recomened the thermometer changing..
Them stick on ones are rubbish, the ones with probes are much better! :)

I have already changed the bulb this was something that I thought I should do anyways, so thanks gogga your post just helps me know I was thinking along the right lines. Thanks for the post Livey I do have a digital probe thermometer, I did mention it in the first post. The stick on ones came with the Viv, I just haven't taken them off yet.

He still hasn't eaten anything and is still showing signs of stress, I have put a towel up in front of glass so that he can't see us all watching TV, I hope this helps him settle a little quicker. Tried him with butternut squash and asparagus today and crix. I have some roaches on the way too. I'm not worrying about him not eating just now. I don't really expect him too eat just yet since he has just arrived, all I can do is just keep offering.

It is lights out for him soon, I'm soo happy with my dragon.

Again I would just like to thank Jo from gemstone-dragons.com for my lovely boy!!!

What a total cutie! I am so pleased for you. You seem to be doing everything just right so your lil one will flourish and I am sure a name will come to you before too long.

Thanks Doudle J!!!

Anyways, we have been thinking of names and still haven't come up with anything solid the names we have thought of are, Kazi (Kamikazi), Moochi, Soap "McTavish", Crayola, Morph there are a few more too, however most of the family seem to like the name Kazi. He also ate this morning, 4/5 dusted crickets and some asparagus. I'm at work now but when I left he was basking. He done another poo today and again it looks fine.

He got really stressy yesterday when I changed his bulb over, but like I said is fine today and eating a little. So I can't ask for more.

I will measure and weigh him later this week when I think he is up to it, so that I can of course keep track of how he is growing. WOhooooO!!

 I never thought I would be happy to see poop :) I have become obsessed with it all. My son calls me a Lizardholic. I like Kazi as a name, also Morph (but that's because I love the lil morph character from the old art program with Tony Hart :).

lol brilliant, I totally forgot about little plastercine Morph! He was my favourite part of the show, woohoo.

The builders have came outside the house and are drilling, my little man has now taken the huff and went very dark ever since the noise started. However just before that he was running around the viv going up to random things and arm waving them before returning to bask.

I do think he is settling in and I can't see any major problems, the only thing that isn't normal is of course his stress marks... which I know will go away evetually.

I have a normal household 100w bulb in the vivarium just now, which is taking basking spot up to 102... I would like this to be a little higher however I have been to around 10 shops and can't seem to get either a 150W screw in bulb or even 100w reflector bulb which I think will help raise the temperature slightly. Hot side is 91 degree's and cool side 83.2 degree's. Night time temp was 72 degrees last night. I am working until saturday however the other half is off work tomorrow and I am hoping he will not mind taking a trip to B&Q to pick up the bulbs I want.

I know the temps aren't perfect, but they are very close. How much do you think this will affect my lil one?

I got a better lamp today to increase the temps that little bit extra in the viv. So wooohooo temps are fine, basking area is anywhere between 104 and 108 at any given time. Hot side just over 90 and cool side just over 80.

He ate around 12 crickets today, and 5 butterworms and also a little of his salad woohooo!

He has been very dark these last two days, which I guess is due to relocation stress. However he has been great, eating well and not hiding considering we have only had him 3 days. I can't wait for him to settle in.

I put a top of mine in the viv today and it is still in there, I hope this helps him get used to me and settled quicker... just had a peek in viv just there and he is sleeping on it... awwww!!!

All is good here, as soon as he isn't soo dark and less stressed I will get some more pics of him... he is lovely and we have all fallen for him!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
