Kali going nuts

Hey everyone,

My female beardo Kali ( 1 year old ) is going nuts everytime she sees one of my younger bearded dragons, who are kept in a different terarium. As you can see on this video, when i show Kali my younger male beardo Thor ( 6 months old ), she starts scratching the glass doors and trying to bite him, also her beard gets all black and shes showing domination with waving her head up and down. I know this is typical for males when meeting another male during mating season, but i didnt know females do that too. I plan on puting Thor into same terarium with Kali in a couple of months and im afraid they will fight eachother. Or maybe when Thor grows, she will leave him alone ? Cause if there were no glass between them right now, she would probably eat him.

Hi there,

The general belief on this matter is that beardies are solitary and territorial creatures and so should always be housed alone.
Your beardie is showing obvious signs of aggression and dominance just by seeing your other dragon NEAR her viv.
Can you imagine what will happen if you put them in together?

Males + females especially shouldnt be housed together because they can overbreed.
Considering the darkness of Kali's beard Id be inclined to say she might be male also. And two males is a definate recipe for disaster.

Furthermore when beardies are housed together one usually becomes dominant causing the other beardie to not grow properly due to stress.
Beardies can and do attack eachother, unfortunatly dragons are not like dogs, who can be taught about naughty aggressive behaviour. Once it has happened once, like here, it will happen again and again.
Dragons will think nothing of nipping off a chunk or tail/toe in order to defend their basking spot.

In my time keeping dragons I have rescued two dragons who were living in a viv with other dragons.
Dexter was small for her age and was missing a bit of her tail, most of her right arm, most of her right foot and alot of her toes.
Ruben had his leg and arms ripped off at the joints by his clutchmates.

There are rare cases where dragons show no signs of agression towards eachother, and there isnt too much bullying but it is a risk that is simply not worth taking.

Dont beat yourself up about not knowing, most ignorant pet store workers will insist that having two beardies is fine, but please do the responsible thing and keep them seperate perminantly.
Your dragons will lead much happier healthier lives apart.

I am extremely confused. It appears that Kali ...... is Kal ? And that 6 month beardo Thor, is .... Thora ? :shock:
I thought i was supposed to be looking at the bumps on the other side of his vent. But i dont get it then, Thor, or Thora...he is same age ( from same breed ) as the other beardo i have, but he ( or soo i thought ) is soo much bigger then her, and his head is much much bigger and wider then hers. While Kali (or Kal) is very thin for his/her age and has a very thin head.

Yea, this is what i was looking at. But vet said Kali is a female, and ppl i bought this 3 small beardos from told me Thor is a male and other 2 are females. Well this would certanly explain why Kali is soo agressive and why Thor is soo calm ( i have 3 young beardos together in 1 terarium and in the begining i seen them all waving arms.
