kale stuck in throat

Last night i made the mistake of letting my 5 year old cut up lennys kale must have cut it way too large his throat is full of it and his is semi choking. He won't let me touch him he normally runs to my hand. Is there anything i can do to make him throw up or something. He is a little over a year and was always in perfect health. Help me I can't lose my buddy. His neck is puffed out and he makes a hick up sounds

i gave him a warm bath and he pooped but doesn't help his throat issue i don't know what to do.

I have been trying to get him to drink water and rubbing his throat to get him to throw it up and I put a tupperware container with warm water in his enclosure i hope he finaly just throws it up but I'm quite scared.

Are you able to see the kale stuck? I've heard of people opening the mouth with a credit card.. if you can see it still there, you might be able to hold the mouth open and grab with tweezers...

I have no idea how to make a dragon throw up.. Does he/she seem to be able to breath all right?

me and my girlfriend were able to get some of it out with the credit card and tweezer idea i feel terrible doing this to him it looks like he is trying to throw it up now. I can't get a hold of my vet either.

you could also try the age-old babyfood mixed with olive oil trick, see if that loosens it up a bit

thanks i feel so bad doing this to him but its almost as though he knows we are helping helping him. poor guy he is going to the vet on monday even if he seems better.

hes gonna fight like no other but you have to force his mouth open however you can and pull that out. prepare to be bit but trust me it is worth the life of your pooper. mine got a suction cup from some fake leaves caught in its throat once, but i was kinda thankful it got caught , i wouldnt have been able to pull it out of his stomach and who knows what kinda damage it could have done there. on forcing their mouth open , i usually use my thumbnail on them right at the front of their mouth, fingers are the best cause you can feel the pressure you apply and tell if your going to hurt him, then just stick your thumb in AT THE FRONT WHERE THERE TEETH ARE SHORT to hold there mouth open, if you do it at the front you wont need stitches, just a bandaid anywhere else you are getting sliced. good luck andihope you buddy comes out alright

this is going to be a long night i keep squirting water down his throat hoping it would wash some down. He has one piece still stuck in his throat the has a stem in it i think is the cause of all of this. We just can't seem to get to this last piece he finds a way to shut his mouth no matter what i do.

Hello,

Another thing you can try is to get one of those long swabs from the drug store along with some gauge or an ace bandage. Wrap the top portion of his mouth to where it will help you keep his mouth open by gently pulling upwards with a little tension so he can't bite down as hard. You will need someone to help you with holding him along with the wrapping, while you use the swab. That should buy you some time to try & swab out that last piece of kale. This type of method is used with lizards & snakes to avoid being bitten. Short of buying a metal restraint to keep the mouth open, that is really the only other thing you can do.
