Just placed my first order for Dubias, have ?s

My daughter has a 5 month old dragon named Spock. He's a real cutie and seems active and happy. He's been fed Phoenix worms for all but the first 2 weeks she had him. He would never eat crickets, so we thought we'd try dubias for some variety.

He is 9.5" long and when I weighed him today he was 31gms. Yes I know he's small, I've been through all that with another poster on the intro board.

My question here is about how many dubias on average should expect him to eat. I only ordered about 100 for now just until we know he likes them.

He still won't eat much in the way of greens. We've tried collard, mustard, dandelion, zucchini, yellow squash, butternut squash, and some fruits. He doesn't really seem to want any of it. We offer it daily, but still no luck getting him to eat more than 2 bites if any at all. I have heard we could do baby food veggies, so maybe we'll try that.

As much as he can eat in 15 mins, three times a day.

I have a 5 month old that is about a foot long and 97 grams. My schedule sometimes restricts me from being able to feed him multiple times a day. So when I get up for class in the morning (after he has basked for a least an hour) I will feed him as many as he can eat in 10-15 minutes. If I am running late i just put a whoooole bunch in a ceramic bowl and let him eat them and then I feed him again when I get home. As for the greens that just comes with time. My buddy ate his greens from the time I got him. Sometimes u might have to mix it with something that they like in order to trick them into eating it. Once they get a taste for something they like they will most likely continue to eat it.

Are you giving him a bath everyday?? Since he is not eating his greens, which is were beardies get most of their moisture, you should definitely be making sure you are giving him a 20 minute bath a day. If not 2 times a day if you have time. It is very important for them to get baths because it is very easy for babies and juvies to get dehydrated.

I use dubia for my beardie and he absolutely loves them. I feed him crickets too. He likes the chase .

I used baby food when I had a sick beardie. It's always good to have but you dont want to have to rely on that. I used stage one butternut squash baby food and chicken. You can mix them together and feed it to him. I used to mix in his calcium and vitamins in with it so I knew he was getting what he needed.

Thanks for the info. We're home all day so the multiple feedings won't be a problem. We do bath him at least once a day.

That's good about the bathing. But if he is not eating his greens you might want to do it more than once just so you know that he is getting the hydration he needs. You can never over bathe really.
