Just got my dubias!

Im so happy my dubias just arrived and ive put them in there cage . i'm am using cricket water gel, dog food and reptile heat pad (Tell me if i should add or change anything). Once my colony gets bigger ill be able to start feeding them to my beardie. im so happy i dont have to feed crickets anymore. But the adult roaches kind of creepy :| .

I didn't want to gag when I opened mine, but i was scared because I wasn't sure how they were going to be packaged ahaha.
Mine seem to be taking forever to grow, I also want to do away with crickets because they are evil I swear :evil:
Thank god dubias aren't too gross or scary, they big ones are a bit weird though you are right. I found that they never come out from under the cardboard I put in there and when they want to move they seem to work as a team and roll the cardboard over to wherever they want to go. Weird stuff, huh?

they are pretty weird little creatures. I don't know if I will ever get 100% used to them.. but with the amount of feeders I have now compared to the amount My beardies eat.. I need at least 5 more dragons.. Let's see 300 dubias, 300 supers, 200 butters, and 500 reptiworms... You think I have enough? LOL

Maybe I should if I actually expect them to grow...Crickets seem to die fast...do dubias live for a very long time?

I received a very good mix of them.. I also bought 6 adult females and 2 Adult males... So, I can feed them now to all my dragons. I bought mine from www.beardeddragon.co 200 mixed for $15.00 and shipping isn't bad at all.. How much did you pay for 50 babies??

Oh, and I think as long as you keep feeding them, they will live for quite awhile.. I've found I few dead here and there, but not many.. and no I don't use a heater for mine.. I really don't want to breed them, but they seem to be doing that on their own. I was thinking about it, that's why I bought the adults, but now I'm just letting them do their thing.. haha

I'm getting a new baby dragon tomorrow (on her way UPS right now) so I will be using up the nymphs quickly!

Ya I totally freaked out when I saw the adults. But the babies were not that bad,but I am slowly adjusting

Yeah dude it could only get better. They don't bother me at all when I think of them as beetles instead of roaches ahahahha, though I am not sure if that's true..the babies also remind me of pillbugs (rollie pollies) and as a kid I loved playing with those things. Plus, when i let my dragons outside I've noticed that the love eating them when they wander near them, so it's easy for me to manipulate my mind into thinking that they aren't roaches. Then again....I don't have any adults.

MAN!!! I believe I paid $25 for 50 at Greg's Exotic Inverts. I definitely adore you for throwing that link out there! That's a good deal. I thought I was making out well because I couldn't find anything that got lower than that-guess not.
If they breed like crazy than I have NO IDEA why they are so expensive.

yeah, definately go to Cheryl @ Rio Reptiles, she owns the beardedragon.co store... just tell her you want little nymphs, and she will send them to you. she's really good about stuff like that!

Wasn't trying to make you feel bad. Sorry.. I just see so many places that charge a ridiculous amount of them, and they breed like crazy. I don't know why they are so expensive!

Just on the prices alone I've thought about doing a small time business raising these in a shed for what people are charging for them. It's insane.
