Just a suggestion

I don't mean to offend anyone in this post but I had a suggestion regarding the "for free" thread. I noticed many people who want to offer homes for most of the beardies have basically 1 post on the thread or 3 or 4, well you get my point. I find it a bit unfair for anyone giving away their beardie to someone with so few post who seemingly makes an account to ask for the free beardie.Do they lurk the forums only to get a chance of scoring a free beardie?Someone might give their beardie away to some who wont give proper care or to someone trying to make a simple buck by making the beardie a breeding machine. There are many possibilities of the intentions of that person even if it's be good or bad.

For example I seen someone asking for a free beardie on a certain topic and they had a couple post so I read them and was disgusted with their threads and yet you have that same person asking for a a free beardie. Someone giving away their beardie to a good home might not realize this and assume the person has good intentions because they seem nice and seem experienced by what they type.Ask yourself this......Can you honestly say your not suspicious of a person with so few post? Has their not been times where your disgusted with someones post and then you see them asking for a free beardie? I don't mean to offend anyone because i'm sure that their are some who have good intentions.

My suggestion is why not make the "For Free" thread only accessible to people who have at least 100 post on this site but also accessible to any person that wants to post a for free ad. By this you allow anyone to post a thread but not allow just anyone to reply to the thread. You can also make it to where sending private messages are not allowed to anyone under 100 posts but it is allowed to any moderator.I'm sure it's a big hassle to do and there are most likely things i'm not considering but I honestly just want the best for any beardie that is being given away.So that's my suggestion, thanks for reading.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do not feel that we should get that restrictive for this purpose. For one, there's nothing saying that a person who signs up to post isn't going to be a good care giver to the beardie, nor those with fewer than 100 posts. Personally I'm not a fan of using such metrics because people with 1000 posts may not be better at caring for a beardie than someone with only 50, or 25.

Ultimately, it is up to the person who is finding a home for their beardie to find a home that is good for them. It is the owner's right to decide this. The information is available to them. They need to do their due diligence to ensure their beardie is happy and healthy with the person they give them to. We can give advice and suggestions to other members, but I'm not big on the idea of taking control of their decisions.

Thanks for replying, sorry if I was misunderstood but I don't mean anyone with fewer then a 100 post would not be a fit dragon parent. After-all we all started with 1 post and the whole point of the "100" post rule was so that the person giving away their beardie would be able to look through their history and be able to make a better judgment although some cases looking through their history may not help at all.

I could see where this rule might cause some problems however and I could also see where it can be claimed as unfair as well.In the end it was just a suggestion so just thought I throw it out there.I totally respect your decision and thanks for considering my suggestion, take care.

I understand. Thank you for the suggestion. There are many suggestions that I choose to not implement or entirely agree with. But I do appreciate it when people provide thoughts on ways to improve things. In the end, I try to balance the ideas with other aspects of the site, our direction, and all that. For this particular suggestion, I think it risks being more problematic. In the end, I do prefer to promote that people own up to their own responsibility and try not to tread into that area. That's not even thinking about the technical implementation. I don't think the forum software has that granular of a control. It's possible... but I think there would be limitations on that front. And I avoid making coding changes to code that is not my own (I made that mistake in the past).

Thanks again.

Not a problem, I figured their might be some technical issues involved as well which is why I just build computers not program them!

Thanks again

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
