Hi Everyone,

I recently lost my baby boy Elliott and am I finally ready to get another dragon. The breeder that I got Elliott from felt that I did a wonderful job taking care of Elliott and they felt so strongly about it that they offered me another dragon for free. They said they felt that Elliott may have had something wrong with him from birth so that is why they are making me the offer. They no longer breed anymore due to the time and expense and also the saturated market. But they gave me a choice of 3 dragons. 2 males and a female all about 2 years old. Looking at just the pictures I have one that I am leaning towards, but seeing them in person and experiencing their personality might change my mind, so I'm not sure at all which one I am going to end up with. I was posting to see what everyone else thinks. Also I am not sure on a name. The breeder did not tell me any of their names and I didn't ask. The one I pick might already have a name I like, but if not I don't know what name to give. I was thinking possibly Julius or Spyro. Well, without further ado here are my three choices...

This one is the female and is actually the sister of Elliott who I lost. I guess someone bought her and then brought her back saying that it was too expensive to care for her. Her growth was stunted due to the bad care the first owner gave her so I guess she is on the small side. Also they said her eyes bulge out more often than not and they can't figure out why. You can see it in the picture. They said it does not seem to cause her discomfort.

The next 2 are brothers, one a little smaller than the other...
Male #1

Male #2

I am leaning toward the larger of the 2 males (#2). His colors are gorgeous and he looks nice and big and healthy. Having Elliott's sister would be nice but there are a few reasons I'm shying away from that option. The breeder said that Elliott's death could have been caused by something that was wrong with him from birth. If that is the case than there could be a chance she has the same thing. Also she was not raised right from the get-go and while taking this little girl in would be really special, I am afraid of losing another dragon. It's not as if she is in a bad situation right now. If I do not choose her she will live out her life with the breeder and be well taken care of.

Ultimately like I said I will have to see the three of them in person to make my decision. I am going there Nov 28th to pick up one of these guys or gals. Got the cage completely cleaned, sanitized and ready. Temps have been checked and double checked and superworms are on their way. Let me know if anyone has any input on these guys and a possible name!

Such a cute little guy, well not little....lol He is massive!!!! Did you manage to get a weight on him and a length yet? My mle is 19 and a 1/2 inches but he hasn't filled out yet. I also have a feeling my little male Achillies is going to get bigger than this guy! Its hard to believe they start of so small. Sorry to hear about your loss but at least your breeder worked with you. I recently lost a bearded dragon to liver disease and I only had him for a month. The breeder never contacted me back or anything. I called him several times and emailed them. They told me that I needed to give them vet bills and all that plus show them pictures of the diseased animal. I was so upset at the time because I never bought a bearded dragon before. I started to get it all compiled together but then the guy never emailed me back. I won't buy from a breeder I don't know....especially an adult. The vet I took Lenny to said he was born with a bad liver and it prolly accelerated because of all the shows the breeder was taking him to. Makes me sad thinking about it.

Hey Rukia,

Yeah, I read your thread. It really stinks how some breeders just don't care. I did get a weight and length for Jethro. He's 500grams and 21.5 inches. I expected him to weigh more actually, but I guess not. He eats like a pig which is great!! He loves his baths...and he actually drinks water by himself either out of his dish in his viv or sometimes out of the bath. That's nice because I know he is thoroughly hydrated. Elliott would only drink out of a syringe so I could never be 100% sure he was getting all he needed. All in all things are going great. I'll post up some picture later on today or tomorrow!

I'm slowly making my rounds to read up on the little cuties around here!

I was sad to read about your Elliott but also happy that you were able to open your heart up once again to welcome a new baby!

He's so big. I cannot wait for mine to get bigger. Course once they are I'll be saying how I missed them when they were small!

Jethro is not showing any signs of wanting to brumate and according to the breeder he wasn't when he was at their house either. I have NO problem with that!

Well after what happened with Elliott (getting sick so suddenly out of the blue). I decided that with Jethro I was going to get a fecal exam done every few months just to catch any potential problems. I'm glad I did because I took and sample in yesterday and this morning they told me that he not only has high levels of pinworms, but also coccidia! It's strange because he is not showing any signs of being sick. He eats great (greens and worms) he drinks from the bath so I know he's staying hydrated. He looks alert and healthy. I guess I can consider myself lucky that I caught this before it started causing him much discomfort. I'm going to the vet today at 6:00pm for an exam and to get some prescriptions. Hoping they don't totally cream me with the charges! I'll keep you all posted on his progress.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
