Good afternoon ladies and gents, my son and I have had our lovely friend for 5 months now, he's 12 inches long, when we got him he was 6, and seems to be nice and healthy. My son wanted to start customizing his enclosure and I noticed a lot of Jenga blocks laying scattered around the house. anyone know what kind of wood they are made from? are they safe? I would be building a small basking ramp / hide for Fred, our little guy, and wanted to see if anyone else has tried it yet. I understand the sanitary aspect of using wood, luckily Fred poops on the brick I have set up on the opposite end of his cage so no real worry about it getting too yucky. I'll be using wood screws to secure each of the blocks together, that way I can cook or freeze the unit when its time to clean without having to worry about any fumes being created.

According to Hasbro, they're made from Alder wood. As long as they're clean, I'd imagine it would be OK to use them for part of the construction. Perhaps sand them down first and give them a coat of polyurethane to help protect from moisture (and let them dry/ventilate for quite a while afterward).

thanks for the assist, I was looking about and couldn't find any updated info for it so I greatly appreciate it. Ended up making a small ramp prototype affixed with wood screws that allows me to slightly change the flat top of the ramp into a sort of uneven rickety style bridge. I'm gonna go ahead and start planning something that'll be wide enough to give Fred a nice little overhang to sleep under.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
