I've used the Exo Terra 10.0 repti glo compact bulb with my girl "Honey Ryuu" since she was a baby . She is now almost 2 yrs old. I have had NO problems with this bulb, my beardie is happy and healthy. Most people on here will disagree and tell you not to use this bulb. Is there anyone else that has had good success with this bulb ?

Just because YOU havent had any problems doesnt mean that issues dont exist or the bulb is "good". Its not! Most of the time people have to make a bad experience first before they switch to the correct uvb light.
Nobody should buy that bulb yes it is cheaper and easier to get,but as stated above its very well possible that it will HARM your beardie.
You might have been just lucky with your bulb, but I would still avoid the repti glo.
;)
But of course Im curious if theres somebody else out there using this uvb without any issues?!

I'm glad it worked for you and your pet. But the common wisdom is to stay away from it. One anecdote saying it's fine isn't enough to contradict that.

No need to get so upset. I didnt buy the bulb because its cheaper. Im curious to know if you personally ever used it or know someone that has and had issues with it ? Yes i have read all the literature about all the different kinds and brands of uvb bulbs out there . Im saying ive personally been using this bulb with no problems and would like to hear from people that have used it with good or bad results.

Ive used it for about 2-3 weeks cause i believed the petsmart woman and it was before I found this forum.
Spikey was lethargic , and one eye was continously closed even though it looked healthy. Its very common that Beardies develop eye issues from the wrong uvb wavelenght and strength. She was just laying around and didnt eat alot. Then I changed to the repti sun 10 tube and the eye healed ,Spikey got more active and started to eat up to 120 crickets a day.

Im glad Spikey is doing well now. :D I got my beardie from a breeder and i have a very good exotic store in my area . The reason for my post is to see how many people have used the repti glo compact without problems not to argue about which light is the best. There is good and bad in every product and what works for one may not work for another. All of us on here want the best for our beardies !

Youre absolutely right. ;)
I just dont like seeing Beardies getting hurt and unfortunately there are sooo many posts on here saying my beardie isnt moving at all, eyes are always closed etc.
But Im glad your bulb or maybe its your Beardie is an exception and hasnt caused any problems so far.

Keep in mind that a lot of what gets repeated as advice on this forum is just that - repeated advice. The people able to give expert advice can't respond to every thread (if they even come here.) It's possible Exo Terra fixed the issues that were causing the eye problems. It's possible that there's some factor involved that you've managed to avoid. It's even possible that the issue only affected one bulb in 10. We don't know. What we do know is if your BD has eye problems and you're using this bulb, they go away when you stop. It seems wise to err on the side of caution and simply avoid this bulb. You chose to do otherwise and it worked out.

I'm not sure what your problem is beardieparents7780 but you need to relax with the comments and such. This is a friendly thread where someone is asking for real life scenarios about a certain bulb, there is no need to say they use it because they are cheap and not taking care of their Beardie. I have seen a couple threads this morning you have spammed in calling people names and saying they should be smacked in the head. That is not how we do it here. Please relax and show other members some respect. The concensus of the group may not agree with the bulb he chooses but there is no need to insult him.

I appologize and not trying to insult anyone at all but Im a animal lover and if you want any kind of pet you should be ready to put your time and invest in them and as for the smack in the head it was reffering to the misleading pet shop youtube video giving false info! Im here to help and make sure ppl have the jnfo they need to have healthy beardies and enjoy all they have to offer :) I appologize again just kinda out spoken at times lol

Thank you Mediabandit ! There seems to be quite a few disrespectful comments on here. To Beardieparents 7780,Sorry you feel that way. That was an ignorant comment that goes to show your character and immaturity. You dont know me or how much money i make so to say i got the bulb because im cheap is a misguided statement.
I've worked in the veterinarian field for 7 yrs . I do love animals and give them the best possible care i can. I know the consensus on here is to use the Reptisun tube and nothing else ! But you should not put people down for using something else. Like i said in an earlier post what works for one may not work for another. This is a discussion board and you should be able to come on here and ask questions without being ridiculed.
So now that my original post is lost in all of this , im still asking the question if anyone has used the Reptiglo compact 10.0 without any issues ?

Haven't used it for a beardie, but my girlfriend's red-eared slider turtle has had the 5.0 compact for a while and seems typically ravenous and healthy.

That being said, red-eared sliders seem to thrive in less than ideal conditions. A vet told me about a family who brought what they thought was their tortoise for a check-up. Turned out they were misled by an ignorant/deceitful pet store and were raising a red-eared slider as a tortoise for years.

By the way calling me "ignorant" makes you even more ignorant. You have 7 years vet exp? If you did you would know those are low quality UVB source for your beardie. So you post attacking me as ignorant? I just said they're cheap and not good...I wasn't attacking you personally but hey think what you want.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
