since i have already posted a question about lighting and enjoy lurking the forum. i thought i would introduce everyone to my little guy/girl. bought him/her home alittle over a week ago. he/she is missing part of its tail, and a few back toes. i was told at the pet store that when they are little and in a pack, that some of them may lose limbs due to other lizards grabbing onto them... i believed the guy since this is my first reptile. anyway, ended up giving him/her a name... Lucifer... so, Lucifer is alittle timid still when i first reach my hand in the tank to pet him/her in the mornings. but sits just fine on my hand when i pick him/her up. have started feeding Lucifer dubia roaches. just got a shipment of 200 in yesterday... he/she was going nuts in the tank watching me dump them into their container... anyway, with the tail missing im unable to get a good measurement. and im not quite sure what kind of BD Lucifer is... but here are a few pics...

this was a few days after he/she first showed up...

Welcome! And I believe you can measure from StoV (snout to vent) as well. Some ppl will measure StoT (snout to tail) however, obviously this will not give you a good measurement as he is missing some of his tail.

Still a very cute Dragon. :)

Welcome! Unfortunately sometimes when many baby dragons are housed together toes and tails can become nipped. Although this usually does not effect a dragon at all. I have known dragons that have all their toes nipped on two or three paws and been just fine.

so after a feeding of roaches lastnight i decided to give Lucifer a bath. this time in a clear pan on the table. he enjoyed the bath for a bit until it got cold... then he started running all over the table. unfortunately he was alittle to quick for me and fell off of the table... i quickly scooped him up and checked him over.... he seemed fine... i filled the bath tub with water instead and put him in there... he seemed to like that much better as he laid with his eyes closed enjoying the warmth... after his bath i laid him on a towel on the bathroom floor. after a few min drying off, he jumped up and started running all over the bathroom floor. it was hilarious... my oldest daughter joined me on the floor to watch him. he snuggled up against her after a bit. then he moved back to the towel on the floor... i covered him up and he immediately closed his eyes and enjoyed snuggling. it was the first time i watched him fall asleep outside of his tank... this morning he was back to basking under the lamp and eating roaches... he still twitches alittle when i first put my hand in the tank to touch him... im hoping to be able to spend more time with him, so he gets used to me and more comfortable in his surroundings... i do have a question though, if i want to let him run around the living room. should i BD proof it?

Aww, they are adorable. And yes, I would recommend Beardie proofing it to the best of your abilities. Make sure their is not stuff on the floor he can eat. (they are curious little creatures). Also, be aware of tight crevasses he may be able to get into. They can fit into some small spaces when they are little. Keep a watchful eye. I "lost" Hades for one night when he was about 9 inches and only a couple months old. I think he was hiding in the curtain. He came out the next day, luckily for me. I literally turned my head for 30 seconds and he was gone.

I would also recommend after a bath, to let him get under his heat lamp a little, just to avoid any potential for upper respiratory infections. I've heard its good to put them back under their heat for a while after a bath. (someone can correct me if this is wrong).

Glad you are enjoying Lucifer. And it sounds like he is enjoying his new family as well. :)

got home last night to find Lucifer with his first full on shed. gave him a bath to help a bit. he spent most of bath time swimming and scratching his back. the other night i picked him up around lights out and held him in a towel until he fell asleep.. tried doing this last night, he jumped up after a few min and tried to jump out of my arms. quickly placed him back in his tank lol. he is eating non stop, but still VERY timid with being handled. he's been with us for close to three weeks, so i can't be to upset about it. im just alittle jealous of everyones pics with snuggling beardies. or hanging out on there hand, shoulder, running around their house. he doesn't seem as social as most beardies on this site. im still obsessed with the little guy though. have a batch of 200 medium sized dubai roaches on there way today. moving up from the smalls which he devoured in less than a week. guess thats all the updates for now

i haven't snapped any new pics of good ol Lucifer, but he is def growing... he had his first full on shed last week. came home to a bigger Lucifer and a smaller old self laying in the tank. lol. i have tested the waters with this little creature. first only being able to run around in the bathroom with a closed door. i then opened the bathroom and allowed him to roam around in the bathroom AND hallway. which he seems to like...he also seems to like going into the bathroom and making a bomb dive out into the hallway and right over to the dogs door gate... where he likes to try and climb through.. (i must find a better way of keeping him in one area as he would climb through the gate if not being watched). the dogs are SUPER curious about him... i can't wait until Lucifer if big enough that the pups will just be a size or two bigger than him.... lastnight we cleaned his tank out. i finally got rid of the sand, and layered the tank with paper towels. oddly enough, the papar towels make the tank look smoother and cleaner. when it came close to bed time i scooped the little guy up, placed him on my chest under my zip up hoodie... at first he was fully covered.. he did not like this and poked his head out. it took a while for him to finally get comfy. this was the very first time i have ever had him on my chest. and, he fell asleep there. he fought it, wasn't sure about where he was at or why he was seeing a different part of the house. but he finally calmed down and fell asleep. when i returned him to the tank i made a small bed for him out of a towel. he did wake up and was alittle startled when i placed him in the tank... but as soon as i covered him with the towel he fell right back to sleep... in fact this morning when his lights came on i had to peel back the make shift blanket and force him to wake up... lol.... we will have had him for a full month in a few days, so im hoping soon he will start settling in... this weekend will start the project of making a 4X2X2. i have some of the materials.. enough to start the structure. i went with 1/4 birch plywood, and am thinking about going back and just doing the 3/4 as im not wanting to make a frame for it all... still debating... purchased a new Arcadia light fixture with bulb, a track for the plexi glass, and picked up everything else from home depot. well, thats the update i guess.... i also started using an app called "alfred" to watch the little guy while at work... i started with an app called icam, which i found through some of the users here.. but could not get it to work when not on the same wifi as my webcam at home... and honestly haven't had the time away from the family to really look into the settings and getting it to work... once i do, i'll try and figure out how to stream it for everyone to see!

the little guy has fallen asleep 2 times now on my shoulder while wearing a hoodie. i feel like he is starting to get more comfortable with me... i have started hand feeding him roaches, which somehow has seemed to help... lastnight after working on his new enclosure we got him out to let him run around... after about 15 or 20 min i found him in the corner of the bathroom behind the toilet... he loves to lay flat back there... he was kicking his legs like he was trying to cover his body in sand. and wiggling around getting all snugglie in the corner... i finally walked over and started petting his head and cheek... he just closed his eyes and enjoyed... and then wiggled alittle while i was doing it getting more comfy... this little guy...i have started wrapping him in a hand towel at night for bedding and covers... he seems to enjoy being "tucked in"... in the morning i get up and walk in the room to find him peeking out waiting for me to say good morning... hoping to have his new enclosure ready for him to move in by next weekend... more updates soon to come

Sounds like you are having a great time with your dragon!
If your dragon is falling asleep on you, that means he already trusts you. :p

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
