Buddy just passed more Feces, still dark green but something caught my eye, so I sifted around in the fecal matter, found skin, foot, tail.

I am flabbergasted...Buddy Snout to Tail is 18" Oz was Snout to tail 14" SVL: 6"

She eats greens daily and very well, veggies, fruit, crickets dusted, mealworms too. at least our questions are answered and not once has Buddy's behavior gone lethargic, loss of limbs, etc...I'm calling several vets right now but I am really speechless.

For those that are interested and can't believe as much as we all can't...I took a photo (for the vet) on the fecal matter.

In this one photo you can see, skin, foot, tail. Again weak stomachs and those with no further interest please do not look......

I have been following this story since Friday.. I cannot believe that he was able to eat a 14.5" Iguana! I'm so sorry for your loss of your Iguana, and I hope Buddy is ok... But I am still dumbfounded by this :(

OMG! I am so sorry for your loss. I've been reading your thread, and I highly doubted that Buddy would have eaten an iguana almost as big as she was... But wow, I'm so sorry. That's horrible. :(

I am so speechless, heartbroken, and this is not me to not properly carefully care.

I've worked with Dr Doug Mader (Internationally Rec. Herp Vet in Keys) I've rescued wild Iguanas in cold snaps, I've volunteered on countless boards for Pet Rescues and managed a multi-million dollar animal practice by the time I turned 19.... My reputation, credentials speak for themselves but I am just SHOCKED at this and the physics are just impossible I thought... I'm still in a state of shock I think.

Now I'm wondering if I should leave my beardie alone with my small dog... And I still don't get how there was no trace of remains??? How did he eat poor Oz.. I just don't get it.

So sorry to hear that.. I pretty much knew and that's why I posted what I did yesterday..

As for leaving no remains or blood, dragons don't cut up lizards when they eat them, they crush the bones and swallow them whole.. There are videos of beardies eating anoles if your interested..

This is actually somewhat good news though.. I believe if he's passing pieces there's a smaller risk for impaction.. I'd still take him in for those x-rays though. Hopefully you'll only lose one lizard in this ordeal.. Again, I'm really sorry to hear this...

I've been following your story too, very sad to confirm Oz was actually eaten. I'm glad that buddy is doing well and passing everything ok.

As sad as this is, I applaud you for sharing your store and the updates. So many people think dragons won't eat another dragon/reptile if it is close to the same size. This proves not only that they can but that they will. I am curious though, I know iguanas have really long tails compared to their body length but how big was the actual body? I mean, how big around was he or how wide?
I had a iguana years ago and if I remember right, at 14" he was still pretty small even though he was long.

Thank you for letting me share without passing judgement. They were never meant to have contact with each other at all....it was something that occurred and something we missed all within 40 minutes...

Even though Oz was 14 1/2 inches (Grew 1/2 in in the week we had him) his body was only about 6 to 6 1/2 inches I'd guess.. I do know beardies will eat other lizards. as far as his diet goes I don't think it was out of any lack I think it was something was in his space alive and viewed as a threat. Iguanas are so fast that I wonder if Oz was Stuck trying to go somewhere to get to Buddy's side allowing buddy the opportunity to see a "Small" green lizard and once giving that opportunity he took it then underestimated how much he had to eat. Again only a theory I've come up with recently.

Just the night before we watched on Youtube a video of this, and of beardies eating Pinkies and I don't think I could ever feed Buddy those but I may be changing her name to Lizzie Borden.....(Sick humor sorry) I really don't find any of this funny. Just my way of coping.

Sorry for your loss, hopefully buddy pulls through ok.

This is why housing beardies together is also frowned upon. They are very territorial animals, and don't like their space being invaded. In the wild the loser of a territory battle would simply run away, in captivity there is nowhere to run to so most likely the loser will end up seriously injured or as in this case, killed and eaten.

I want to cry reading this. I cannot imagine how you felt when you saw his poop and realized it was Oz. I will not pass judgment on you, at all.. I wish there was something we could do besides say I'm sorry.
*hugs*

I've been reading your other thread hoping you'd found Oz in your couch or under a bed or something. I didn't think Buddy could eat Oz either. I've heard of beardies attacking other beardies that were smaller than them, but I still never thought Buddy would eat Oz! He was just about as large as Buddy! I'm so sorry for your loss!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
