My beardie Penny has stopped eating very much. She will occasionally eat a few roaches or reptiworms but she has been ignoring her salad and when she went to the bathroom today the urate was an orange color. She has a reptisun 10.0 and her temps are around 100 in the basking side. Other than that she is pretty alert. Here is a link to the picture of her stool: http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/4788/photo1pp.jpg

How old is your beardie? I've read that colored urates could be over-supplemenation with a mulitvitamin. What is your dusting schedule and bathing schedule? Also, are you feeding anything orange? Last time Darwin ate a baby carrot half his poop was tinted orange.

She is 10 months and 19 inches. It doesn't really look like she has lost weight but I can't tell. I usually dust with the vitamins and calcium about every other day but I stopped about a week ago because I read that too. Do you guys think I should take her to the vet?

I don't think a vet visit ever hurt. If you do go, make sure to take a recent stool sample to have it tested for parasites. But I'd continue to dust, but for an adult I believe the schedule is dust with calcium 3 times a week, and a multivitamin once a week. How do the urates look today?

She hasn't gone since then, she hasn't eaten. Not sure what to do, going on vacation on Thursday and my friend (who has beardies of her own) is watching her. It might be relocation stress. She has been moved around a lot this summer and I just moved her to my new house. Could that be it?

If you're leaving soon for vacation, it might be best to address this problem now, rather than possibly come home to a sick beardie. If you can get a vet visit in before you leave, that would be cool. If not, then let your friend who's watching her know that she's not doing well, and to keep an eye on her, and take her to the vet if she feels concerned. Relocation stress can do all sorts of weird things to a beardie, including suppressing their appetite.

Maybe let her settle down, and if you see anything that makes you guys really concerned, take her to the vet ASAP. Since your friend is experienced with beardies, I'd be a lot more comfortable leaving yours with them. Again, just let your friend know that you have a potentially sick beardie and to watch her closely while you're gone. Offer to reimburse any vet bills that your friend deems necessary.

Just a suggestion, could she be gravid? When my girl is gravid she sometimes had pinkish urates and stops eating. Has she been puffier lately?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
